Job Summary:
This position is accountable for developing overall merchandising operation strategies designed to achieve the company sales volume, gross profit margins, and market share goals. Establishing and achieving long-range goals and objectives. Providing counsel and guidance to management throughout the organization on merchandising matters. Ensuring the effective integration of merchandising efforts between clubs.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Segmentation Strategy - Lead the in-club strategy for high value space, segmentation and localization.
  • Vendor Engagement - Evolving the performance management and planning discipline of the Merchant organization in partnership with our suppliers. Manage and improve joint planning processes and deployment of vendor investment across key growth drivers for the organization. This includes management of our in club demo program.
  • Assortment and space planning - Lead the strategy for assortment management and space productivity across the organization. Improving merchandising productivity of space to reduce labor expense, improve sales, improve margin and increase inventory productivity. Work cross functionally to bring our merchandising visions to life through improved club layouts and formats.
  • Merchant systems and process - Lead, evaluate and recommend changes to improve merchandising process and procedures across several key initiatives
  • Reporting and Analytics: Responsible for accessing and aggregating data across channels and functions (customer, promotional, product, cost-to-serve) and simplify and provide better insights to our merchants.

Experience and Education:
  • Leads and directs the work of other team members and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
  • Supervision is often provided through a team of subordinate managers and/or directors.
  • Collaborates with other members of the executive management team to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the merchant organization.
  • Develops policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization.
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree 12- 15 years of experience.

  • Reports to a top executive, Chief Merchant.

In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $260,000.00 - $305,000.00
This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
