Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner (NP)

PRN (per diem) Position | VHC Health - Arlington, Virginia

VHC Health is seeking a collaborative and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Interventional Radiology program. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a high-performing team of interventional radiologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and technologists in a comprehensive procedural practice serving both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Opportunity Highlights

The Nurse Practitioner will play an integral role in the evaluation, coordination, and management of patients undergoing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position combines clinical assessment, peri-procedural management, patient education, and longitudinal follow-up within a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.

This is a full-time position based on the main VHC Health campus in Arlington, Virginia, with opportunities to work closely with oncology, vascular surgery, nephrology, hepatology, trauma, emergency medicine, and other medical and surgical specialties.

Responsibilities Include:

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and medical histories

Evaluate and prepare patients for interventional radiology procedures

Manage inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits

Provide peri-procedural and post-procedural care

Interpret laboratory and diagnostic findings relevant to patient management

Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams on treatment planning

Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment plans, and recovery expectations

Coordinate care transitions and ensure continuity of care across service lines

Assist in quality improvement and program development initiatives

Candidate Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP)

Current or eligible Virginia Nurse Practitioner license

DEA certification or eligibility

Experience in Interventional Radiology, Critical Care, Vascular Surgery, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine, or a related specialty preferred

Strong clinical assessment and patient management skills

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Job Description

Purpose & Scope:

A Physician Assistant (PA) employed by VHC Health Physicians ("Physician Group") is required to complete a PA Agreement with their Collaborating Physician(s). This PA Agreement will describe the PA's role and function of the PA, including but not limited to, number of patients, types of illnesses, nature of treatments, special procedures, the nature of physician's involvement, and the evaluation process. In addition, it will indicate the prescriptive authority of the PA and approval of invasive procedures authorized by the executed PA Agreement.Overall, the PA will support objectives, budget, performance metrics and medical activities at an Individual level including implementation of quality control standards, risk management and compliance programs.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program required.

Experience:

One year of experience as a Physician Assistant preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
