Buchart Horn is seeking a visionary Vice President of Transportation to lead one of the firm’s most influential engineering practices. With 11 offices across 7 states, this executive role provides firmwide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for a multidisciplinary team delivering integrated transportation engineering solutions across our geographic footprint.

This position is ideal for a senior transportation engineer ready to shape not only major projects, but the future of a growing business unit and the professionals within it. You will define technical standards, guide strategic priorities, and drive long-term growth for the Transportation Strategic Business Unit—advancing infrastructure that improves mobility, safety, and community resilience.

This is a rare opportunity to combine executive leadership with engineering excellence. You will oversee complex, high-profile transportation initiatives, mentor emerging leaders, and influence how transportation engineering is practiced across the firm.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and grow the Transportation Strategic Business Unit, ensuring technical excellence, operational performance, and profitability
  • Provide executive leadership to directors and managers, fostering collaboration, innovation, and professional development
  • Drive business development through strong client relationships, strategic pursuits, and market expansion
  • Oversee project delivery, staffing, budgets, and financial performance across all regional offices
  • Advance quality standards and promote integrated, multidisciplinary project delivery

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Proven experience in transportation engineering and technical leadership, including design oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage business operations, and support strategic growth
  • Strong communication, financial management, and strategic planning capabilities
