Description
The VP, Commercial Relationship Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding a commercial loan portfolio while delivering high-quality financial solutions to business clients. This role focuses on new business development, credit underwriting within delegated lending authority, portfolio management, and relationship deepening through consultative financial advice. The VP serves as a trusted advisor to clients and represents the Bank through community and business involvement, while ensuring full compliance with Bank policies, credit quality standards, and applicable regulations.
Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development & Relationship Management
  • Develops new commercial banking relationships through proactive calling, referrals, and community involvement.
  • Manages and grows an assigned loan and deposit portfolio, ensuring strong client retention and portfolio profitability.
  • Serves as a trusted financial advisor to customers and prospective customers, providing sound financial guidance and credit solutions.
  • Cross-sells Bank products and services in a professional, consultative manner to meet client needs.
  • Represents the Bank in the community through civic, social, and professional organizations to enhance brand presence and generate business opportunities.
Credit & Portfolio Management
  • Interviews loan applicants to assess borrowing needs, financial condition, cash flow, and creditworthiness.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and evaluates financial information in accordance with Bank loan policy and underwriting standards.
  • Structures, negotiates, and approves loans within assigned lending authority, including pricing, terms, repayment structure, and collateral.
  • Prepares and presents credit requests and recommendations for loans exceeding individual lending limits to senior management and loan committees.
  • Monitors existing loans and lines of credit to ensure compliance with loan terms, covenants, and policy requirements.
  • Maintains acceptable levels of past due loans, documentation exceptions, and technical exceptions.
  • Reviews and adjusts risk ratings as appropriate and remains alert to developing credit trends within the portfolio.
  • Participates on the Officers' Credit Committee and other committees as assigned.
Collaboration, Leadership & Expertise
  • Works collaboratively with senior officers and internal partners on larger or more complex credit relationships.
  • Provides guidance and support to lending staff in the development and analysis of financial data for new and renewed loans.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of commercial banking, current financial industry trends, market conditions, and economic factors.
  • Studies commercial and industrial markets to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
Compliance, Risk & Professional Standards
  • Ensures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as state and federal banking regulations.
  • Upholds the Bank's vision, mission, and values, demonstrating integrity, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to internal and external customer service.
  • Completes special projects, analyses, and related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or
  • Six or more years of related banking experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of commercial lending experience, with demonstrated success in portfolio management and business development.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong credit analysis and underwriting skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial information.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build trust.
  • Proven ability to manage complex problems involving multiple variables and non-standard situations.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate proficiency in banking systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related financial software.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills, including interest calculations, ratios, percentages, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to draft clear reports, correspondence, and loan documentation.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage, if driving is required for the position.

Salary Description
$80,000 - $110,000
