Senior Associate/Vice President - Lead Software Developer 
San Francisco, California

We are looking for an exceptional software engineer in San Francisco to support the growth of our investment advisory firm.This is an opportunity to work alongside individuals who are united by a strong sense of teamwork, service, and excellence. About the role 

This software development role sits within the Investment Strategy team, which is responsible for top-down portfolio construction and asset allocation, for macroeconomic and capital markets research, and for portfolio implementation and rebalancing using our proprietary client portfolio management systems and tools. These tools are used to rebalance portfolios, generate portfolio analytics, and monitor portfolios. 

This individual will use their depth of experience in software engineering and design to enhance our existing system and to add new functionality and solve challenging future problems. The individual will maintain and upgrade the application code as well as the web UI, striving for a balance between responsiveness and reliability of our applications. 

The senior (VP) role is one of ownership of the systems and entails both hands-on technical work as well as planning for large scale expansion / integration to create the next generation system. The role also involves interfacing with third parties, collaboration with internal business groups, and mentoring and coaching junior members of the investment technology team. 

About you 

You are excited to work on a small fast-moving team that is continuously building new products and features while supporting daily investment processes that are critical to the firm's investment platform and investment operations. You are interested in working throughout the stack, and place equal importance on both front-end and back-end development projects. You display an ownership mentality, possessing a combination of an entrepreneurial attitude along with the knowledge and experience needed to design and build highly robust and flexible systems. You take a pragmatic rather than dogmatic approach to your work. You are comfortable taking initiative and being self-directed while also highly capable of collaborating closely with peers and with junior team members. You communicate well with teammates who have technical backgrounds as well as with those on the business side. Your qualifications include: 

  • Degree in a related field, such as computer science, computer systems, engineering, etc. 
  • Senior Associate level software developer role: 5-8 years of software engineering experience 
  • VP level lead software developer role: 5-10 years of software engineering experience, including 2-3 years of leading software development projects 
  • Strong Python programming experience along with experience in SQL and ETL processes 
  • Experience supporting critical production systems 
  • Experience with AWS, Airflow, git, bash, and Jira a strong plus 
  • Willingness to contribute throughout the stack 
  • Strong project management and verbal and written communication skills 
  • Discreet in handling sensitive and confidential information 

Additional desirable qualities and experience: 

  • Expertise in Pandas 
  • Knowledge of Dash or Flask 
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes 
  • Understanding of Postgres database management and administration 
  • Experience with Aristotle or Volcano-X trading platform integration APIs 
  • Familiarity with Addepar and Salesforce 

Compensation & Benefits 

Compensation at Jordan Park includes a base salary, discretionary year-end bonus, benefits and other perks. We apply a total reward philosophy when determining compensation terms. The expected base salary for this role in San Francisco, California will range from $150,000 to $200,000 per year commensurate with experience, job-related skills, relevant education, licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
