Position Information:
South Dakota Mines invites applications for the Associate Vice President for Research Affairs within the Research Affairs office. This is a regular, full-time, benefited position. This position is responsible for managing technology transfer, intellectual property, and supporting, as needed, faculty and student innovation and entrepreneurship programming. The position oversees several areas of compliance including human subjects research, Bayh-Dole requirements and reporting, and export control assurances. This position also reviews and negotiates contracts on behalf of the research enterprise and upper administration. The position will also be the principal investigator for the university's NSF I-Corps grant.
A PhD in a STEM field, a J.D. with focus on intellectual property or contracts, or an MBA is required. 5 years of experience in higher education technology transfer is required.
