POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Afognak Native Corporation has an opportunity for a Sr. Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) located at our corporate offices in Anchorage, AK. As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.

The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, start-up and divestitures, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.

Leadership and Talent Oversight:

  • Accounting Talent Management & Financial Reporting oversight.
  • Dynamic cross-functional team leadership, staff building, training and mentoring.
  • Talent Selection, Development and Retention for Accounting/Finance Department personnel.

Financial Compliance & Reporting Oversight:

  • Ensures accuracy and integrity of the overall financial position for a consolidated multi-organizational company reporting per Private GAAP regulations accepted in the United States and Modified Tax Basis for all Trust Reporting.
  • Corporate Ethics/Integrity Integration.
  • Corporate-wide multi-organizational Consolidated Reporting per GAAP and Trust.
  • Reporting per the Modified Tax Basis Shareholder Trust Reporting.
  • Financial reporting per GAAP, FAR, CAS.
  • Internal controls and best practices.
  • Federal government contracting.
  • DCAA and IRS audits and regulatory compliance (Systems adequacy, post awards, closeouts and tax compliance audits).
  • Expertise in new GAAP treatment such as revised revenue recognition, lease accounting and international standards methodologies.

Corporate Strategic Alignment, Restructuring and Analysis:

  • Corporate lead for various startups, mergers & acquisitions and divestiture opportunities.
  • Strategic budgeting and forecasting.
  • Cost efficiencies and control, margin optimization.
  • Pricing strategy for future awards and various contract types (CPFF, T&M and FFPcontracts).

Other:

  • Works with the President/CEO and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
  • Expertise in Alaska Native Corporations (ANCs) and SBA Certified 8(a) DBEs.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator - extensive involvement and participation with Board and Shareholder initiatives.
  • Studies long-range economic trends and projects their impact on future growth in sales and market share Identifies opportunities for expansion into new product areas.
  • Oversee cash management to ensure adequate liquidity, compliance with banking covenants.
  • Foster partnerships with corporate bank representatives to collaborate on future growth and portfolio expansion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range:$350,000 to $450,000 Annually

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required.

Required Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of progressive financial, operational and strategic experience.
  • Experienced in reorganizing, streamlining and strengthening financial operations to maximize performance and profitability.

Other Required Qualifications or Skills:

  • A goal-oriented visionary and effective communicator.
  • Hands-on executive leading mergers and acquisitions, start-up and divestures.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills required to accomplish objectives and meet criticaldeadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Committed to high ethical standards. Customer, shareholder and employee focused.
  • Responds to operational and financial challenges with confidence, determination and focus.
  • Diverse financial and operational experience specifically but not limited to industries within the federal government contracting, retail and oil field support service marketspace.
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.

Preferred Qualifications or Skills:

  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
