The CILA Nurse will function as the primary care nurse for a designated area and/or caseload. They will be responsible for performing assessments and responding to emergency situations. Responsible for communicating concerns with the medical provider/Director of Nursing/VP of clinical services. In addition, working under a Registered Nurse Trainer Certification (RN Trainer), the CILA Nurse will provide oversight of resident medical needs for assigned area and appropriate training for staff member assigned to area.

Qualifications:

  • Active RN license in the State of Illinois
  • Must possess one year of clinical registered professional nurse experience within the last five years, preferably in DD
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven initiative, responsibility, and demonstrated ability to work with a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work with residents, families, and staff
  • Ability to complete RN trainer certification within 3 months after
  • Proficient with computers (previous EMR experience, Microsoft Outlook and Word)
  • Proficiency in intervening physically during health or behavioral crises.
  • Active and valid IL driver's license

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing & VP of Clinical Services, ensure that the health and medical needs of individuals in the assigned group homes are met.
  • Provide oversight and training to staff regarding the self-administration of medication and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure reliable and punctual attendance, with flexibility to meet the needs of individuals and homes.
  • Participate in team-based self-scheduling to cover designated hours
  • Review monthly summaries, general health status, vital signs, medications, and treatments administered.
  • Evaluate injury reports and make recommendations for additional medical interventions.
  • Review and sign medication orders monthly & obtain provider signatures
  • Address medication errors, retrain staff as necessary, and report errors to relevant authorities.
  • Coordinate and review annual physical and dental examinations, specialist, outline laboratory screenings and special tests.
  • Coordinate specimen/culture collection, record results, and notify physicians of any immediate actions required.
  • Assist with the admission, discharge, and transfer of individuals, including respite care.
  • Ensure compliance with Public Health and Public Aid Standards, DHS regulations, and the Nursing Home Care Reform Act.
  • Review special diets, weights, and menses regularly and recommend adjustments to physicians.
  • Take and record phone orders from physicians, assess individual health status, and evaluate medication needs.
  • Identify individuals capable of self-administering medication and ensure appropriate training programs are in place.
  • Drive off site to CILA homes to assess as needed
  • Monitor medication refusals, control substance use, and conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Administer vaccines, medications, and suppositories as required.
  • Review individual health and well-being, providing recommendations for prompt medical care.
  • Compile and submit quarterly reports as required.
  • Attend annual staffing for all assigned individuals.
  • Communicate with pharmacists to update medication system policies and procedures as needed.
  • Advocate for the residents by following up on acute findings and ensuring adequate care is pursued if needed.
  • Ensuring staff and residents' medications and resources are available and effective.
  • Taking the initiative to work and understand all aspects of Misericordia's multidisciplinary team to ensure best care practices for the residents.
  • Participate in RN trainer meetings, discussion, and med cert classes if assigned.
  • Communicate with family/guardians regarding changes with residents, needs, & new orders as needed.
  • Meet with pharmacy monthly for medication check-in.
  • Complete SAMA assessments for residents as needed & annual ISPs.
  • As RN trainer, certify staff as certified med passers, ensure authorization documentation, and annual tests are on file and up to date.
  • Follow up with off-campus providers and ensure progress notes, new orders, or follow-ups are documented in the chart and documented on the EMR system.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours in current position
  • Maintain flexibility with schedule and assignments

Full-time, AM and PM/evening shift openings

Pay: $39.00 an hour with additional shift differentials as outlined below.

  • Day Shift: $39.00 an hour base pay (no shift differential) on weekdays and $3.00 more per hour on weekends
  • Evening Shift: $39.00 an hour base pay + $3.00 more per hour on weekdays and $4.00 more per hour on weekends
