Regional Vice President – Multifamily Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Regional Vice President of Multifamily Operations to provide strategic and operational leadership across a large multifamily portfolio in the Houston market.

This senior leadership position is responsible for driving portfolio performance through strong regional leadership, financial discipline, operational execution, talent development, and accountability.

The ideal candidate is a proven multifamily operator who has successfully led multiple communities and senior field leaders, understands the financial drivers of multifamily performance, and can translate ownership and organizational objectives into measurable results.

This opportunity is well suited for an experienced Regional Vice President, Regional Director, Senior Regional Manager, or comparable multifamily leader who is ready to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization.


Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio & Operational Leadership
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight across a large portfolio of multifamily communities.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Regional Managers and property leadership teams.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, operating priorities, and accountability throughout the portfolio.
  • Monitor property and portfolio performance and identify opportunities to strengthen operations, resident experience, and financial results.
  • Partner with regional and onsite leadership to develop actionable strategies for underperforming communities.
  • Maintain visibility within the portfolio through regular property visits, operational reviews, and interaction with field leadership.
  • Ensure consistent execution of company standards, policies, procedures, and operational best practices.
Financial Performance
  • Maintain oversight of portfolio financial performance, including revenue, operating expenses, NOI, occupancy, delinquency, and overall asset performance.
  • Lead and support annual budgeting, forecasting, financial review, and variance-management processes.
  • Review financial statements and operating results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with Regional Managers to develop corrective strategies when properties are not meeting established financial or operational objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, control expenses, maximize revenue, and enhance portfolio performance.
  • Monitor capital needs and recommend improvements necessary to maintain asset quality and competitive market positioning.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Build and develop high-performing regional and property leadership teams.
  • Coach Regional Managers on leadership, performance management, financial accountability, and operational execution.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, collaboration, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify high-potential team members and support leadership development and succession planning.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition on key hires, organizational needs, performance management, and retention strategies.
  • Ensure leadership teams have the resources, direction, and support necessary to achieve portfolio objectives.
Client, Owner & Stakeholder Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ownership groups, and key business partners.
  • Serve as a senior operational resource regarding property performance, financial results, operational challenges, and strategic initiatives.
  • Communicate portfolio performance, opportunities, risks, and action plans effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Partner with ownership and internal leadership to ensure business objectives are translated into clear operating priorities.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness, professionalism, and accountability in client and stakeholder relationships.
Portfolio Strategy & Growth
  • Partner with executive leadership on portfolio strategy and organizational initiatives.
  • Support property transitions, due diligence, acquisitions, dispositions, and new management assignments as applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, systems, reporting, and portfolio scalability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Maintenance/Construction, Asset Management, Risk Management, and other internal teams.
  • Support organizational growth while ensuring operational infrastructure and leadership capacity remain aligned with portfolio needs.
Qualifications
  • Significant progressive leadership experience within multifamily property management is required.
  • Previous experience as a Regional Vice President, Regional Director, Senior Regional Manager, Regional Manager, or comparable multi-site operations leader.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing a significant portfolio of multifamily apartment communities.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing Regional Managers and/or senior property management leaders.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, NOI, financial statements, expense management, and variance analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify operational challenges and implement strategies that improve property and portfolio performance.
  • Strong understanding of multifamily operations, maintenance, resident experience, occupancy, revenue management, and asset performance.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients, owners, executive leadership, and field teams.
  • Strong executive presence, communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the assigned portfolio as business needs require.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required; significant relevant multifamily leadership experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
