Job description

The US Controller leads L.A.B. Golf’s U.S. accounting operations while providing strategic oversight and leadership across the Company’s global accounting organization. This role is responsible for managing financial reporting, general accounting, manufacturing accounting, payroll, tax compliance, internal controls, and financial close processes while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across a rapidly growing international business. Partnering closely with the VP of Accounting, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams, the US Controller drives scalable financial processes, strengthens governance, and supports informed business decision-making through accurate and timely financial insights. This position provides leadership to domestic and international accounting teams, ensuring consistent accounting practices, compliance with U.S. GAAP and local statutory requirements, and the continued development of a high-performing global finance organization.

Responsibilities and Duties

Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations

Lead all U.S. accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and manufacturing accounting functions.

Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across domestic and international entities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

Oversee consolidated financial reporting, including multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and reconciliation processes.

Ensure preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable accounting standards.

Serve as the primary owner of financial reporting integrity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency across accounting operations.

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls to support business growth and scalability.

Manufacturing and Inventory Accounting

Oversee manufacturing accounting processes, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, and operational financial reporting.

Ensure accuracy of inventory balances, cost structures, inventory reserves, and manufacturing-related financial data.

Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Production teams to strengthen inventory controls, improve reporting accuracy, and support operational decision-making.

Analyze manufacturing variances, production costs, and margin performance to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to costing methodologies, inventory processes, and manufacturing financial controls.

Payroll Administration and Accounting

Oversee domestic payroll operations, ensuring employees are paid accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll requirements, including payroll tax filings and reporting obligations.

Manage payroll accounting processes, including reconciliations, benefit deductions, commissions, bonuses, and equity compensation accounting where applicable.

Partner with Human Resources to ensure payroll processes, systems, and controls support organizational growth and compliance requirements.

Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers and continuously improve payroll processes, reporting, and internal controls.

Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting

Oversee U.S. tax accounting activities, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, income tax support, property tax, and business licensing requirements.

Coordinate annual tax provisions and provide necessary support to external tax advisors and consultants.

Ensure timely completion of payroll tax filings, indirect tax filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements.

Support transfer pricing documentation, cross-border tax compliance, and international tax reporting requirements.

Partner with external advisors to support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for improved compliance and efficiency.

International Accounting Oversight

Provide leadership and oversight to accounting teams supporting international business operations.

Establish consistent accounting practices, policies, and financial close processes across global entities.

Review international statutory reporting requirements and ensure compliance with applicable local regulations.

Oversee foreign currency accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and global consolidation processes.

Ensure compliance with transfer pricing policies and cross-border accounting requirements.

Build strong relationships with international finance teams, external auditors, and global service providers.

Audit, Compliance and Internal Controls

Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate audit preparation, documentation, and communication with external auditors.

Maintain and strengthen internal control frameworks to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and operational effectiveness.

Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting capabilities, and financial governance.

Partner with external auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to support compliance initiatives and business objectives.

Develop and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, transparency, and financial integrity.

Leadership and Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop domestic accounting personnel while providing strategic oversight and support to international accounting teams.

Establish clear performance expectations, accountability standards, and professional development plans for accounting team members.

Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Support organizational growth by building scalable accounting processes, systems, and team structures.

Partner with the VP of Accounting and executive leadership to provide financial insights and strategic support.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Sales, and executive leadership to support business objectives and informed decision-making.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational performance.

Communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial audiences.

Build strong relationships across the organization to ensure accounting operations align with company goals and growth strategies.

General Duties

Stay current on accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, tax regulations, and industry best practices relevant to a global manufacturing organization.

Maintain a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while managing sensitive financial information.

Support continuous improvement initiatives through process optimization, automation, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of L.A.B. Golf’s financial operations, growth objectives, and organizational success.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.

Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) preferred.

Equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant accounting leadership experience will be considered.

Experience

8+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.

4+ years of experience leading, mentoring, and developing accounting teams.

Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership role preferred.

Strong experience managing manufacturing accounting, inventory accounting, payroll accounting, and financial reporting processes.

Experience overseeing international accounting operations, multi-entity consolidations, and global financial reporting requirements.

Experience managing external financial statement audits, tax advisors, and other third-party financial partners.

Experience supporting high-growth organizations, manufacturing environments, consumer products, or globally distributed businesses preferred.

Demonstrated experience building scalable accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and improving financial operations.

Technical Skills and Core Competencies

Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting standards, payroll accounting, compliance requirements, and related tax regulations.

Working knowledge of IFRS, international statutory reporting, and global accounting requirements.

Advanced ERP experience, preferably NetSuite, including OneWorld, Multi-Book, Multi-Currency, consolidated reporting, and system improvements.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with experience in financial modeling, reporting, data analysis, and complex formulas.

Strong understanding of financial systems, automation, internal controls, process improvement, and scalable accounting operations.

Executive presence with the ability to partner with senior leadership, influence decisions, and communicate complex financial information clearly.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, mitigate risks, and provide actionable insights.
