Intern – Business Intelligence

Location: - Mission, KS (not a remote position)
Position Type: Intern

Position Summary

The Intern - Business Intelligence role will play a crucial role in supporting the data analysis and reporting functions within our organization. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in gathering, organizing, and interpreting data to generate insightful reports that inform business decisions. The intern will collaborate closely with the leadership/director and executive team to ensure accuracy and clarity in data presentation, contributing to the overall efficiency of reporting processes. Through this role, the intern will develop a strong foundation in data management, reporting tools, and analytical techniques, helping to enhance the organization's ability to make data-driven decisions by delivering timely and accurate reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in collecting and validating data from various internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the preparation and generation of regular and ad-hoc reports for different departments and leaders.
  • Collaborate with team members to analyze data trends and identify key insights.
  • Help maintain and update reporting dashboards and documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings to understand reporting requirements and contribute ideas for process improvements.

Requested Qualifications

  • Working towards Undergraduate degree with studies in Computer Science, Engineering, or Project Management
  • Basic understanding of data analysis and reporting concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; including knowledge of functions, pivot tables, and data visualization tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, visualization, and GIS tools (e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS Pro, Esri, VETRO, Python).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.
  • Ability to engage with confidential data in a professional manner

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting may be required.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
  • May be required to operate general office equipment including but not limited to copiers, printers.
