Veterinary Assistant - Full Time
VetMED Veterinary Hospital Bay City, MI
Location: 202 N. Walnut St., Bay City, MI 48706
Compensation: $16-$19/hour
Schedule: Full-time, 36-40 hours/week
About VetMED Veterinary Hospital
VetMED Veterinary Hospital is a full-service, AAHA-accredited and Fear Free Certified veterinary hospital serving the Bay City community. With a team of 4 doctors, the hospital offers a diverse caseload and opportunities for Veterinary Assistants to build and utilize a wide range of clinical skills.
Services Include

• Wellness and preventive medicine
• Dentistry, including dental radiographs and extractions
• Routine and advanced surgery
• Orthopedic procedures, including cruciate surgery
• Radiology and diagnostic services
• In-house laboratory services
• Acupuncture
• Phovia light therapy
• Urgent care
• Diverse small-animal caseload

What We're Looking For
The ideal Veterinary Assistant will have:

• Knowledge of core vs. lifestyle vaccines
• Proficiency with safe and effective dog and cat restraint techniques
• Strong interest in working with a diversity of cases
• A willingness to learn and develop additional veterinary skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A patient-focused approach aligned with Fear Free handling principles

Technology & Equipment

• Avamark software
• Antech in-house laboratory equipment
• Advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities

Schedule

• Full-time, 36-40 hours per week
• Must be able to routinely work some evening shifts
• Rotating weekend availability required

Your Impact as a Veterinary Assistant

• Provide Essential Patient Care: You'll be a key player in the health of our patients, assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
• Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: You'll be the backbone of the clinic, anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth, efficient, and collaborative workflow.

• Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: You'll take pride in maintaining the hospital, performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.

What You'll Bring to the Team

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
• Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
