Generalist with Clinical Research Focus (DABVP-Preferred)

Austin Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center (AVES) is seeking a passionate Generalist with clinical research experience-or a strong interest in developing clinical research expertise-to join our newly established Clinical Study Center in Austin, Texas.

AVES is the first hospital in the Ethos network to establish a dedicated Clinical Study Center, creating a unique opportunity to combine hands-on patient care with innovative clinical research that helps advance the future of veterinary medicine.

You'll join a small, collaborative research team and partner with a board-certified Medical Oncologist and dedicated support staff to conduct sponsored clinical research trials, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) studies, proof-of-concept investigations, and industry-sponsored projects.

You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with leading veterinary pharmaceutical, pet food, medical device, and diagnostic companies while providing patients access to innovative and, when study-funded, fully funded treatment options.

• Partner with a board-certified Medical Oncologist and dedicated research team to conduct sponsored clinical research trials.
• Participate in GCP studies, proof-of-concept investigations, and industry-sponsored research projects.
• Provide high-quality patient care while helping eligible clients access treatment options available through clinical studies.
• Manage a diverse caseload extending beyond traditional general practice, including chronic disease, pain management, and emerging areas of veterinary research.
• Work within a structured research framework where projects are provided, allowing you to focus on clinical execution, patient care, data collection, and study protocols rather than grant writing.
• Utilize protected research time for data entry, study coordination, protocol compliance, and high-quality documentation.
• Collaborate with veterinary pharmaceutical, pet food, medical device, and diagnostic companies on research designed to advance veterinary medicine.
• Work alongside a robust multi-specialty team, including Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Surgery, Oncology, Neurology, and Diagnostic Imaging.

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for Texas veterinary licensure.
• Board certification (DABVP), current pursuit of DABVP certification, or an interest in pursuing certification in the future is preferred but not required.
• Clinical research experience.
• A passion for evidence-based medicine and advancing veterinary care through scientific discovery.
• Confidence managing a diverse clinical caseload and an interest in cases that extend beyond traditional general practice.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to support accurate research documentation and protocol compliance.
• Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, client-centered approach.
• A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working alongside specialists, research professionals, and industry partners.
• Experienced and early-career veterinarians with strong research interests are encouraged to apply.
