Position Overview

Huntsville Veterinary Specialists amp; Emergency (HVSE) is seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Anesthetist to join our fast-paced emergency and specialty care team. This advanced-level role is responsible for the treatment, sedation, and general anesthesia of both stable and unstable hospitalized patients. The Veterinary Anesthetist plays a critical role in emergency and critical care case management, providing advanced anesthesia management, monitoring, and support for complex and life-threatening cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage advanced anesthesia protocols for patients classified ASA 1–5, ensuring safe sedation and general anesthesia.
  • Provide mechanical ventilation support and manage invasive and non-invasive monitoring techniques.
  • Perform accurate medication calculations and administer anesthesia-related medications safely.
  • Oversee transfusion medicine, including blood product administration and monitoring.
  • Manage central line and arterial line placement and care.
  • Provide chest tube care and management as needed.
  • Lead advanced CPR efforts and comprehensive emergency patient stabilization.
  • Conduct rapid patient assessments and provide high-level anesthesia support during emergency and critical care cases.
  • Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, nursing staff, referring veterinarians, and clients during high-stress situations.
  • Maintain detailed anesthesia records and communicate patient status clearly to the clinical team.
Qualifications amp; Skills
  • Credentialed veterinary technician with advanced anesthesia training.
