Surgical Technician - Full Time Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists in Williston, VTย
$26.00-$32.00 per hour depending on experience and licensure, with a possible range of $35-38/hour for licensed VTS techs
WHAT YOU'LL DOย
Surgical Support & Patient Careย
- Serve as scrub and/or circulating technician for soft tissue and orthopedic surgical proceduresย
- Prepare andย maintainย sterile fields, surgical instrument packs, and implant inventoriesย
- Perform patient preparation including surgical site clipping, aseptic prep, and positioningย
- Assistย with anesthetic induction and support the anesthesia team throughout procedures as neededย
- Monitor patients during recovery and communicate post-operative status to the care teamย
- Assistย surgeons with wound management, bandaging, and discharge preparationย
Instrumentation & Equipmentย
- Maintain, clean, inspect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following established protocolsย
- Manage orthopedic implant inventory and loaner sets, coordinating with vendors as neededย
- Ensure readiness and functionality of surgical suite equipment including electrosurgery units, suction, and power toolsย
- Track and restock surgical supplies; flag low inventory and expiring itemsย
Team & Standardsย
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and technical staff across departments to support seamless surgical careย
- Train and mentor technician assistants andย new staffย on surgical preparation, sterile technique, and instrument handlingย
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of surgical SOPs and protocolsย
- Uphold OSHA, DEA, and hospital compliance standards within the surgical suiteย

REQUIREMENTSย
- 1+ years of experience in veterinary surgery or a surgical technician role strongly preferred; specialty or emergency setting a plusย
- Hands-on experience with soft tissue and/or orthopedic surgical procedures and instrumentationย
- Solid understanding of sterile technique, instrument sterilization methods, and surgical suite preparationย
- Credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferredย
- Strong communicationย skills and the ability to work effectively across departments in a fast-paced environmentย
- Ability to manage competing priorities andย maintainย composure in high-stakes surgical situationsย
- Must be comfortable with physical demands of the role including patient handling, lifting, and potential exposure to anesthetic gases, radiation, and other hazardous materials; PPE provided andย requiredย
