What You ll Do

As a Veterinary Technician - General Practice at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, you will be an essential part of our team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting veterinarians with routine general practice procedures: exams, diagnostics, anesthesia monitoring, lab work, venipuncture, and catheter placement
  • Support with patient intake, client communication, and education on treatments
  • Preparing patients for appointments, including reviewing and interpreting bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics
  • Administering and monitoring medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care
  • Communicating effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations, discharges, and follow-up updates
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting seamless case management
  • Collaborating closely with veterinarians and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Supporting other hospital teams as needed once duties are complete

Anticipated Schedule

This is a full-time position with the following schedule:

  • Four 10-hour shifts with one weekend day/week

Compensation

  • Starting at $18.00/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure
