Job Description
Summary
The Long Island University Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-LCVM) located in Brookville, New York, invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals to join the pathology team that includes 3 board certified veterinary pathologists. This full-time, tenure-track position may be filled at the Assistant or Associate Professor Level. We are seeking individuals interested in academia and teaching in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
The successful candidate will be engaged in the College's educational and diagnostic service activities. Priority will be given to candidates with solid background and interest in diagnostic pathology and teaching. Successful candidates must be naturally adept at promoting LIU-LCVM's mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research and service, to a variety of stakeholders. They will be responsible for developing independent or collaborative research in disciplines that contribute to the Lewyt College of Veterinary Medicine mission and scholarly output.
In addition to involvement in the college's diagnostic and teaching activities, that include the delivery of the 4th year Anatomic Pathology Clerkships, active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation, and collaborative scholarly activity are expected.
About The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:
LIU-LCVM utilizes a distributed model of clinical education. In addition to teaching and research space, the College has modern physical facilities and laboratory equipment designed to provide pathology support (autopsy and histopathology services) to clinical partners, local veterinary clinics and local farms to accommodate instructional needs connected to the DVM student training program.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree, and a Master, PhD or other earned doctoral degree in biomedical sciences. Board certification by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (Anatomic Pathology) is preferred. Candidates will have a record of scholarly achievement as an independent and/or collaborative researcher consistent with the appointed rank. Additionally, candidates will have a strong commitment to professional DVM and graduate student education, proven strength teaching in large and small group settings, good communication skills, and the ability to promote a culture of collegiality, collaboration and inclusiveness within the workplace.
