Veterinary Account Manager information

What is a veterinary account manager?

A Veterinary Account Manager is a professional responsible for managing relationships between veterinary product or service providers and veterinary clinics or hospitals. They act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs are met and providing solutions to support veterinary practices. Their duties often include sales, account management, product education, and customer support. Veterinary Account Managers play a vital role in helping clinics access the latest products, technologies, and services to improve animal care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a veterinary account manager?

Veterinary Account Managers need a background in animal health or life sciences, strong sales acumen, and experience in account management, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM software, sales analytics tools, and veterinary product databases is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, relationship-building ability, and effective communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills are essential to drive sales growth, foster client loyalty, and address the unique needs of veterinary practices.

How does a veterinary account manager typically collaborate with veterinary clinics and suppliers to achieve sales goals?

A Veterinary Account Manager works closely with both veterinary clinics and suppliers to understand their needs and offer relevant products or services. This involves regular communication, conducting presentations or product demonstrations, and providing after-sales support. Building strong relationships is key, as account managers often act as the main point of contact, resolving issues and ensuring client satisfaction. They also collaborate internally with sales, marketing, and logistics teams to develop tailored solutions and achieve sales targets.

Job Summary
This is a high-visibility role at the center of Evette's corporate growth strategy. The Strategic Account Manager works directly alongside the VP of Client Sales across our full book of corporate accounts, owning the day-to-day relationships with regional leaders, medical directors, and operational contacts within our corporate networks. While the VP of Client Sales leads at the executive level, the SAM is the consistent, trusted presence for the people who actually drive shift utilization on the ground. This role is also the connective tissue between our corporate partners and our internal staffing team, ensuring that every need is communicated clearly, followed through completely, and fulfilled with the level of responsiveness and professionalism that our corporate clients expect. For the right person, this is a launching pad. You will be in the room for major client conversations, building relationships with some of the largest veterinary networks in the country, and developing the skills and experience to grow into a senior corporate sales role as Evette scales.

Duties and Responsibilities
Regional and Operational Relationship Ownership
Own and develop the working relationships with regional leaders, medical directors, and operational contacts across Evette's full corporate account book.
Serve as the consistent point of contact for regional and operational leaders, building trust and ensuring they view Evette as a strategic partner, not just a vendor.
Proactively engage regional contacts to surface shift needs, understand coverage gaps, and identify opportunities to grow utilization within existing networks.
When corporate accounts surface regional needs, this role is the first point of contact, owns the communication, advocates internally for fulfillment, and escalates to the VP of Client Sales as needed.
Identify and navigate organizational dynamics and field-level barriers that impact relief utilization within corporate networks.
Strategic Execution and Account Support
Work alongside the VP of Client Sales on corporate account activity, participating in client calls, driving follow-through on key initiatives, and ensuring the momentum built in every client conversation translates into action and results.
Prepare quarterly business reviews for corporate accounts, pulling and analyzing data, building the narrative, and presenting a compelling story of performance and opportunity.
Support the VP of Client Sales in identifying growth opportunities, tracking account health, and preparing for major client conversations.
Source new corporate opportunities and regional accounts not currently utilizing Evette's services.
Maintain accurate and current account activity in CTM so the full team has visibility into every corporate relationship.

White Glove Client Service in Partnership with Staffing
Partner closely with Evette's staffing team to ensure every corporate need is worked with urgency, professionalism, and clear communication back to the client.
Serve as the bridge between corporate clients and the staffing team, translating regional needs into clear direction and ensuring that what we commit to our clients gets delivered.
Proactively communicate updates, timelines, and coverage status to corporate contacts so they are never left wondering where things stand.
Collaborate with staffing leadership on DVM availability, market coverage, and bill rate conversations that affect corporate account performance.

Performance Metrics
Minimum of 10 unique corporate account touchpoints per week across regional, medical director, and operational contacts.
Overall shift volume growth across accounts 1 through 20, measured year over year in aggregate, while maintaining GP at no more than 1% below the prior year.
Quarterly business reviews completed and delivered to the VP of Client Sales on time for all assigned accounts.
Regional and operational contact satisfaction as measured by NPS or equivalent client feedback, conducted quarterly.
New corporate contacts sourced and added to the book annually at the regional and operational level.
Service delivery standards maintained: all corporate needs acknowledged within 24 hours and followed through with staffing within 48 hours.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years in account management, client success, strategic partnerships, or corporate business development.
  • Experience managing relationships with multi-location organizations preferred.
  • Strong relationship builder with the ability to develop trust quickly at the regional and operational level.
  • Highly organized with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and no two days are the same.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into a clear, compelling narrative.
  • Proactive, ambitious, and motivated by growth, both for the business and for their own career.
