Job description

This position is located within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVHCS), at the Fredericksburg Health Care Center (FXHCC). This position functions as a Motor Vehicle Operator for the Facilities Management Department. This includes transporting VA MC personnel, equipment, supplies and other items essential to the support of core functions bet ween the FXHCC and the main campus of the Richmond VAMC.Qualifications:DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: Must possess a current and valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement. NOTE: We cannot accept photographs, therefore; please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you will be required to provide a copy of your current, valid Commercial Driver's License.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The daily duties performed by incumbent consist of climbing in and out of vehicles, moderate to heavy physical effort in climbing on or in to load or tie down cargo. Incumbent works in all weather conditions, pushing and pulling laundry carts and supplies; climbing steps, etc. Incumbent must be physically sound and have good coordination of eyes, hands, feet, and vision and depth perception. Incumbent must be mentally alert to traffic hazards and dangers. Incumbent operates vehicles in all types of weather and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Incumbent may be exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Incumbent performs any other duties properly assigned. Incumbent may be required to work in the laundry due to breakdowns and/or shortage of staff.

The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.
