Job description



Position: Canine Rehab Assistant


Primary Responsibilities:


Cleaning:


Assist with the maintenance of the Underwater Treadmill (UWTM), including monitoring water quality, backwashing, changing filters, and daily cleaning.

Clean treatment rooms in between appointments and at the end of the evening.

Sanitize and clean rehab modalities after each use.

Maintain cleanliness of in-hospital patient cages after discharge.


Rehabilitation:


Admit in-hospital patients and assist with treatment procedures.

Learn to operate and maintain rehabilitation modalities such as E-stim, low-level laser, and ultrasound.

Assist with the UWTM, including understanding its use, emergency procedures, basic gait patterns, and running sessions for weight loss clients.

Assist with therapeutic exercises for patients, including creating Home Exercise Program (HEP) sheets under supervision.

Understand and execute rehabilitation plans as designed by the doctor or rehabilitation practitioner.

Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.



Additional Responsibilities:


Coordinate with the rehabilitation practitioner to ensure smooth transition between clients, aiming for seamless handover between sessions.

Assist with any other duties assigned by the supervisor as needed.



Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in animal science or veterinary technology preferred.

Previous experience working with animals preferred, especially in a rehabilitation or veterinary setting.

Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.

Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.

Physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.

Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures in the field of canine rehabilitation.
