Job Description

Responsible for the safe operation and repair of all systems onboard the vessel. It is the duty of the Chief Engineer to keep himself and the Master fully informed and adhere to all relevant national and governing laws, regulations, company policies, and directives affecting the operation of the vessel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:ย 

  • Have a complete working knowledge of diesel engines and controls, Gen sets and controls, HVAC and controls, hydraulic systems, piping and steel fitting, welding, brazing, sweating, soldering, pump operation and repair, shipboard electrical systems, basic electronics, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to perform duties as outlined by the vessel Station Bill.
  • Train, coordinate, and supervise engine room team members.
  • Coordinate all repairs and preventive maintenance aboard the vessel.
  • Maintain the integrity of the hull, mooring systems, lifesaving appliances, machinery equipment, and other critical systems on the vessel.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention.
  • Proficient in all onboard equipment and systems.
  • Ensure all emergency systems onboard the vessel are operational and up to date.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:ย 

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical equipment and casino vessel mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Must have excellent communication and organization skills. โ€ข Must be able to explain tasks and speak clearly on a radio.
  • Must have a good sense of reason and the ability to figure his/her way through difficult and stressful situations.
  • Good leadership and communications skills are essential.

Qualifications

Candidates with equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of the licenses listed below.

  • Hold a Chief Engineer Limited (NC) 2000HP or higher USCG license or have equivalent experience.
  • ย Must be able to obtain and maintain any necessary certifications and/or licenses per Federal, State, and Gaming regulation.
  • Five years of experience in a Marine Engineer or equivalent position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
