Job description

The Assistant Men's Rugby Coach, assists the Men's Rugby Head Coach in all aspects of the Men's Rugby Club's on and off field  training, practice and competition. This is accomplished primarily through direct coaching, instruction and mentoring of  members of the Men's Rugby Club.  As a self-governed student  organization, the coach will work with team leaders to support individual development and the growth and of the club.  

This is a part time, temporary, non-benefit salaried position with a hiring range of $18,720 - $20,171.

Current Term: August 17th, 2026 to May 30th, 2027.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Mentor the Club's membership as both competitive athletes and campus leaders, and the Club's officers in  organizational management and leadership.  
  • Design and supervise (in collaboration with the Men's Head Rugby Coach) all practices and games, both home and away  
  • Serves as an essential on-field risk manager  
  • Work with the Head Coach and Office of Sports Medicine to ensure all medical clearance requirements are adhered to without exception  
  • Assist student club leaders with the planning and coordination of practice and game scheduling, including field  scheduling  
  • Oversee the club president and team captains and assist them in fulfilling their administrative obligations 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office of the Director of Athletics 

Requirements

Position Prerequisites  

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience required  
  • Coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.  
  • USA Rugby Level 200 coaching certification  
  • Commitment to student development through sportsmanship, teamwork and camaraderie  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituents through strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral.  
  • Strong Leadership and Motivational skills  
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other coaches, administrators, students and alumni  
  • Works effectively within a diverse department and team as well as independent
