Java Production Support Engineer (Client: Verizon)
  • Location: Alpharetta, GA (4 Days onsite)

Job Responsibilities

  • Tier 4 Mobile & Engineering Support:Provide advanced diagnostic and technical support for complex, escalated mobile application, device, and platform issues.
  • Mobile App Log Analysis & Triage: Conduct deep-dive analysis of mobile client logs (iOS/Android) and IoT device logs to identify operational gaps, troubleshoot mobile network connectivity (5G/LTE/Wi-Fi), and isolate client-side vs. server-side bugs.
  • Automation & Scripting:Develop robust automation scripts using UNIX shell scripting and SQL (Oracle & MS SQL Server) to resolve production software issues affecting mobile users.
  • Data Visualization & Performance Monitoring:Write Elastic Search and Splunk queries to monitor mobile app event logs, track application crash rates, create operational dashboards, and establish proactive alerting systems.
  • Network & Device Diagnostics:Utilize specialized engineering tools (including MARS, MTAS, RTT, Handset Analyzer, Iris, TrueCall, and ACSS) to monitor network logs, evaluate mobile device connectivity, and proactively fix performance anomalies.
  • Telemetry & Connected Systems:Analyze customer-reported performance issues involving vehicular telematics devices and their integration/interaction with the companion mobile application.
  • Reporting & Insights: Design and automate daily, weekly, and monthly SQL reports for business stakeholders to track mobile app operational metrics and reduce reporting redundancy.
  • Tool Development:Develop software utilities, mobile test tools, and minor product features under the guidance of senior developers.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in engineering operations, technical support, or network operations.
  • Experience in technical customer support or production operations for consumer-facing mobile applications (iOS and Android).
  • Experience developing software applications and technical solutions.

Technical Skills:

  • Mobile Diagnostics: Proven experience analyzing mobile application crash logs, API network traffic, and using mobile monitoring or debugging tools (e.g., Charles Proxy, Firebase Crashlytics, Android Logcat, or Xcode Console).
  • Database Operations: 3+ years of experience writing advanced SQL queries and managing database operations (Oracle, MS SQL Server).
  • Programming Languages: 2+ years of hands-on experience with Java, C, or other high-level computer programming languages commonly used in mobile and embedded systems.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Proficient in data indexing and visualization tools like Splunk, Elastic Search, and Kibana (NoSQL experience is highly desirable).
  • Systems & Scripting: Strong working knowledge of UNIX shell scripting and core automation practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
