Overview

Aerospace Quality Source Inspector - Mechanicalย 

Position Title: Aerospace Mechanical Quality Source Inspector

Location: Lebananon, NH (local coverage) - additional regional opportunties available

Job Type: as needed

Employment Type: VTR W2 Field Employee (or) VSC 1099 with LLC, if preferred.

Position Overview

As a Mechanical Quality Source Inspector, you will represent Verify's customer onsite at supplier facilities, supporting in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance to customer, engineering, and industry requirements. Inspectors will be trained on customer-specific processes, reporting systems, and quality expectations while supporting communication of nonconformances, quality concerns, and inspection results.

This role requires a hands-on inspector capable of independently reviewing technical documentation, validating objective evidence, and performing detailed visual and dimensional inspections within fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform onsite source inspections at single or multiple supplier facilities
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and documentation inspections on manufactured parts, assemblies, and subassemblies
  • Verify compliance to engineering drawings, purchase orders, specifications, industry standards, and customer flow-down requirements
  • Review Certificates of Conformance (CoCs), material certifications, and special process documentation for compliance and traceability
  • Perform inspection activities utilizing precision measurement equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, and related tools
  • Support AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) activities and validate technical data packages
  • Monitor manufacturing processes including:
    • Precision machining
    • Bearing manufacturing
    • Mechanical assemblies
    • Motion-control systems
    • Gearbox and drivetrain assemblies
    • Grinding and finishing operations
  • Validate calibration status and proper use of inspection equipment
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconformances, escapes, and process concerns
  • Interface professionally with supplier quality, manufacturing, engineering, and customer representatives
  • Support root cause and corrective action activities as required
  • Complete inspection reporting within customer SAP systems and Verify reporting platforms using a personal laptop
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or supplier quality environments
  • Strong background in the inspection and manufacturing of mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and GD&T requirements per ASME Y14.5
  • Experience inspecting close-tolerance components manufactured from various materials including steel, aluminum, brass, castings, forgings, and extrusions
  • Proficient with conventional inspection tools and dimensional inspection techniques
  • Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections
  • Ability to review technical data packages and verify full documentation traceability
  • Familiarity with special processes including heat treat, plating, coatings, welding, and NADCAP requirements preferred
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Precision machining
    • Bearings and rotating equipment
    • Mechanical assemblies
    • Aerospace manufacturing processes
    • Industrial motion systems
    • Dimensional inspection methods

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to professionally communicate nonconformances internally and externally
  • Must be computer savvy and willing to utilize a personal laptop for inspection reporting through customer and Verify systems
  • Must be willing to utilize a personal cell phone for communication purposes
  • Ability to work within fast-paced manufacturing environments while complying with all supplier PPE and safety requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, and maneuver throughout supplier facilities
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
