Job description

Established in 2000 and based in Atlanta, Georgia, Bobby Jones Links is a club management and development company serving private, resort, daily fee, and public courses. At the heart of our work is a commitment to serving people and creating exceptional experiences for members, guests, and employees. We live by our core values: Make People Happy, Do What You Say, Strive for Excellence, Be Driven, and Grow Every Day. These principles shape our culture and drive our success. As Bobby Jones said, "The secret of golf is to turn three shots into two." That same pursuit of excellence defines everything we do.
Located in Grand Blanc, Michigan, and managed by Bobby Jones Links, The Captain's Club offers a premium public 18-hole golf course within the Woodfield Community. Designed by the legendary 1989 Ryder Club captain, Raymond Floyd, the course is surrounded by protected wetlands and wildlife that never disappoints!
The clubhouse restaurant is open to the public, all year round. It features a beautiful veranda that overlooks the driving range. The restaurant is the perfect place to host small, intimate private events. The clubhouse is best known in the area as a top venue to host weddings, corporate events and social events.
The Captain's Club is hiring for a Golf Course Superintendent. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Establishes short- and long-range plans for the golf course.
  • Works directly with the club's golf committee to maximize communication and execution of their priorities.

  • Keeps all permits and licenses of the agronomy department up to date.
  • Selects and prepares proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna.
  • Develops and maintains drainage, irrigation, and watering systems.
  • Responsible for the operation of all maintenance equipment and calibration and operation of each.
  • Ensures that chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of by local, state, and federal regulations; maintains required records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
  • Supervises all planting, fertilizing, care, and removal of turf, plants, shrubs, trees, and other facilities on the golf course and clubhouse grounds.
  • Oversees all construction, maintenance, and renovations on the golf course.
  • Hires and trains all maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures all I-9 paperwork, e-verify, and onboarding are completed within three days of an associate's hire date.
  • Follows all State, Federal, and Bobby Jones Links' human resources rules, including key policies such as hiring and firing, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Implements and enforces a comprehensive safety program for employees, members, and guests on course in compliance with local, state, and federal laws; implements and manages the club's hazard communication (HAZCOM) program.

Required Skills
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of Club financials.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of the club's agronomy operation.
