Purpose: The purpose of the Manager of Joint Venture (JV) Accounting is to assist all aspects of accounting for joint ventures. The responsibilities include financial reporting, profit sharing and cash distribution calculations, management fees calculations, loan tracking, maintaining compliance with financial terms of JV contracts, assist in audits with external auditors, and reconciling all related general ledger account, as mandated by JV agreements.


Essential Functions:



  • Collaborates with JV partners relating to contractual financial terms, which primarily includes financial reporting, cash distributions, loans and other accounting matters

  • Maintains JV accounting policies, processes, and workflows; streamlines internal processes to gain efficiencies and maintain sound internal controls



  • Prepares monthly financial statements for all joint ventures

  • Responsible for calculation of partner distributions and management fees

  • Manages JV receivables and notes; monitors collections, and risk assessment

  • Reviews annual JV tax packages

  • Reconciles minority interest payable, loan balances and other JV balance sheet accounts

  • Assists with audits of joint ventures with Deloitte and prepares related audit schedules

  • Interact with Legal, Business Development and Operations Management on joint ventures related matters

  • Support onboarding of new joint ventures and restructuring activities


Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Director Joint Venture Accounting


Major Interdependencies: Operations, Legal, Business Development, Business Development Finance, Operational Excellence, Shared Services Center


Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:



  • Education and Experience:

    • Requires 3-6 years of experience in an accounting environment:

      • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

      • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred

      • Joint Venture accounting experience a plus



    • In the industry: 3-5 years of Hospitality, F&B and/or Retail experience





  • Specialized Training:

    • Training that leads to a clear and thorough understanding of IFRS reporting





  • Specialized Skillset/Competencies/Traits:

    • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to prepare and analyze financial statements and financial models

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

    • Advanced ERP skills with SAP

    • Advancedbusiness acumenand also has thestrategic mindsetrequired to understand the long-term implications of accounting decisions and to advance the organizations goals

    • Demonstrated history ofanticipating the needs of the business and complexstakeholders, the employee population, and individual circumstances

    • Demonstrated experience exhibiting acontinuous improvement mindsetwith the ability tooptimize work processesand achieve positive results
