Job description

Position Summary

The Controller will play a key role in managing all aspects of fund-level financial reporting, compliance, and operations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with a venture capital or private equity fund and a strong foundation in fund accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations for the venture fund
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements and investor reports
  • Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, and legal counsel
  • Monitor capital calls, distributions, and fund cash flows
  • Track portfolio company valuations and performance
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards
  • Support tax filings and liaise with external tax advisors
  • Assist in the development and improvement of financial systems and internal controls

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4–6 years of experience in fund accounting for a venture capital or private equity fund
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund structures, and capital account maintenance
  • Experience working with fund administrators and external auditors
  • Proficiency in accounting/reporting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Investran, or similar platforms)
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be local to Philadelphia, NJ, or NY

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA a plus
  • Experience with fund launches or early-stage fund operations
  • Exposure to startup or investment ecosystems
