Role Overview 

HighVista is actively seeking an entrepreneurial individual to support our growing venture capital practice. HighVista has a deep history of investing in venture capital, having raised 19 previous funds focused predominantly on early-stage venture capital.  In this role, the successful candidate will gain exposure to a multitude of venture capital strategies and investment types, including primary fund investments, co-investments, and secondary investments. The Senior Analyst role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a knowledge of venture capital and pursue a career in the industry. 


Core Responsibilities 

  • Screening new investment opportunities, including reviewing offering materials, preparing for and participating in meetings with fund managers, and conducting detailed due diligence. 
  • Analyzing and monitoring the performance of the firm's existing fund managers and underlying portfolio companies, and conducting on-going diligence. 
  • Completing analytical projects pertaining to portfolio construction, industry trends or organizational strategy, and writing research-based papers as needed. 
  • Creating and maintaining portfolio models and other analytical tools utilized to evaluate manager and portfolio performance, with an emphasis on leveraging AI and other technologies to augment and streamline ongoing monitoring across the portfolio.  
  • Preparing presentation materials to support client-related activities. 
  • Developing, customizing, or integrating AI-based technology solutions to automate data analysis, portfolio monitoring, investment analysis, and other key business processes for the venture capital team. 

Requirements

Qualifications 

The position requires strong, qualitative and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. The successful candidate will have an innate curiosity about technology and investing. In addition, they will be a problem solver who thrives on challenges and has the ability to deliver a quality work product in an efficient and repeatable manner. The candidate should have familiarity with AI prompting, and the ability to design and enhance digital workflows that improve accuracy, efficiency, or insight generation in an investment context. The candidate will be required to work independently under the direction of the Investment Team. 

  • 2-3 years of investment or financial experience with a strong interest in investing and venture capital. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and team-player with the ability to work under the guidance of senior professionals. 
  • Ability to recognize process improvements, with the capability to execute upon those, through the creative use of technology, automation, or AI tools. 
  • Strong sense of task ownership and personal accountability. 
  • Strong qualitative and analytical skills, including experience with the Microsoft suite and an openness to data analysis using modern technologies. 
  • Demonstrated engagement in community, extracurricular, or personal interest activities outside of academic or professional responsibilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong PowerPoint and design skills to drive preparation of investment committee and client presentation materials. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment. 
  • Bachelor's degree or further education with a strong academic track record
  • Undergraduate GPA requirement of 3.6 or above
