Job description

JOB OVERVIEW:
Responsible for conducting testing of mechanical seal products and support Commercial and Operations teams with proposals, quotes, and planning activities for new projects. Also requires the ability to coordinate activities with Design Engineers, Operations Team, and Project Managers to design product testing equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with testing cost and schedule estimates for proposals, quotes, and planning.
  • Support of new product design reviews and creation of new experimental test plans.
  • Ensure testing compliance with Technetics guidelines and safety standards, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Clearly write, explain, and support test plans, procedures, and results reports., manages and maintains test records and equipment.
  • Design inspection fixtures, test equipment, and occasionally manufacturing tooling necessary to experiment with current and future products.
  • Selection and sourcing of test instrumentations (i.e.: flow meters, pressure gauges, thermocouples, proximity probes etc.)
  • Installation and placement of instrumentation to achieve test goals (i.e.: Where and how to place TCs in the test article, where we should be measuring pressure temp, leakage, etc.)
  • Conduct test readiness reviews with stakeholders (design engineering, customer, manufacturing engineering)
  • Perform physical experimentation of products and components.
  • Follow safety protocol, identifies safety hazards, and mitigate safety risks.
  • Manage experimental laboratory hardware and software for scheduling, usage, and support business cases for upgrades and replacement of machinery and hardware.
  • Actively participates in Core Team activities projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supports the evaluation and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Supports the evaluation of customer product returns.
  • Conduct some engineering activities such as ECOs, CAD work etc.
  • Support manufacturing engineering in tool / fixture design
  • Performs any other assigned duties as directed by management.
  • Occasional travel required in support of customer testing or internal experimentation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from a four-year ABET accredited institution; or six years directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective command of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Interpret drawings per ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiar with AS9100 or ISO9001 manufacturing standards.
  • Can work independently.
  • CAD and FEA experience required, Unigraphics and ANSYS experience a plus.
  • Testing experience with rotating equipment a plus. Fluid dynamics background and general understanding is a plus.
  • LabView experience or other data acquisition technology a plus

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
