Job description

Position Overview

The Vehicle Systems Engineer is responsible for the integration, performance, and reliability of complex vehicle systems across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. This role ensures that all vehicle subsystems function cohesively to meet product requirements, safety standards, and operational goals. The engineer collaborates closely with crossโ€‘functional teamsโ€”including hardware, software, robotics, and manufacturingโ€”to define system architecture and requirements, manage interfaces between subsystems, and support the full product lifecycle from concept through deployment and field support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop system architectures, interface definitions, and integration plans for vehicle subsystems.
  • Lead integration of key crossโ€‘discipline systems within the autonomous and electric vehicle platform.
  • Perform systemโ€‘level analysis, including performance, safety, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Work with the larger engineering team to define and manage systemโ€‘level requirements for vehicle platforms.
  • Work with team to specify and source critical components.
  • Support design reviews and ensure alignment between subsystem teams during development.
  • Plan and execute vehicleโ€‘level testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify integration risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout development.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure system compatibility.
  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of systemโ€‘level issues during testing and deployment.
  • Contribute to documentation including requirements, test plans, and technical reports.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in vehicle systems engineering, robotics platforms, or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with integration of complex systems involving mechanical, electrical, and software.
  • Strong interest in quickly learning about new complex systems
  • Familiarity with requirements management and systems engineering practices.
  • Experience with testing, validation, and troubleshooting integrated systems.
  • Strong analytical and problemโ€‘solving skills with the ability to diagnose crossโ€‘disciplinary issues.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams.
  • Eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with passenger cars, commercial trucks, or robotic vehicle platforms.
  • Experience working with vendors delivering key components
  • Experience with automotive chassis controls, driveโ€‘byโ€‘wire and/or electric powertrain systems.
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet).
  • Experience with system modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
  • Experience supporting hardwareโ€‘inโ€‘theโ€‘loop (HIL) or vehicleโ€‘level validation testing.
  • Background in safetyโ€‘critical systems or functional safety standards.
  • Experience working in fastโ€‘paced startup or product development environments.
