Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Texas Vehicle State Inspector to join our automotive team. This role is responsible for performing state-required safety and emissions inspections, issuing official inspection documents, and ensuring full compliance with Texas state regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and technical skill while providing top-tier service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Texas state-mandated safety and emissions inspections on vehicles to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Issue official state inspection documentation in accordance with state law and facility protocol.
  • Perform courtesy multi-point inspections on vehicles, evaluating components such as brakes, tires, lights, wipers, and fluid levels.
  • Provide clear communication and professional customer service to vehicle owners during the inspection process.
  • Stay current with changes to state inspection laws, guidelines, and procedures through required training and continuing education.
  • Participate in training programs and team meetings to maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment, procedures, and best practices.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in performing inspections, ensuring all reports and findings are honest and accurate.
  • Properly care for and maintain inspection equipment and machinery provided by the facility.
  • Assist team members in shop operations as needed, including basic oil changes, vehicle preventive maintenance and shop cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver excellent service and maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Greet customers professionally and courteously as they enter the facility.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid Texas State Vehicle Inspector License.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems and vehicle safety components.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and ethical behavior.
  • Physical ability to work in a shop environment (standing, lifting, bending, etc.).
  • Prior experience in automotive service or inspection preferred but not required.
