Are you a strategic leader with a passion for operational excellence? As an Area Operations Manager for Data Centers, you will be responsible for leading and delivering multiple large-scale data center civil infrastructure projects across multiple geographic areas. This role oversees site development, earthwork, concrete, underground utilities, paving, and associated civil scopes, typically delivered through joint ventures or partnerships with a vertical data center builder. You will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of these projects, ensuring that they meet and exceed financial and scheduling targets.

What you will be doing
  • Builds a strong relationship with each project Owner and maintains a positive relationship through partnering and regular Owner communication, including Owners, Owner's Representatives, and joint-venture partners on data center programs.
  • Coordinates with local leadership, project teams, and human resources to ensure all projects are properly staffed.
  • Knows each contract and is steadfast in ensuring notices, change orders, disputes, and claims are actively managed.
  • Reviews and monitors each project schedule monthly and ensures compliance with Company and contract schedule requirements, including coordination with vertical construction milestones.
  • Knows quantities, cost, and budgets for each project and reviews performance monthly to ensure profitability.
  • Always looks for ways to maximize opportunities and minimize risk.
  • Has a deep understanding of company financial reporting policies, procedures, and process and conducts monthly financial review meetings with every project; ensures billing requests are submitted accurately and never misses a monthly billing cycle.
  • Understands each project's schedule of values and manages them in a proactive manner.
  • Ensures change orders or other payment mechanisms are in place before work starts.
  • Evaluates project activities to determine compliance with government regulatory agencies and coordinates with agencies for permitting regulations.
  • Participates in the procurement process of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Coordinates Company support through active and regular engagement with various corporate departments including safety, finance, project controls, equipment, construction engineering, technical services, design management, and human resources.
What we are looking for
  • 15+ years' experience in heavy civil construction required.
  • 10+ years' experience managing construction teams required.
  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Managing heavy civil, site development or greenfield industrial/mission critical projects, construction, business and financial risk management experience required.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of complex construction means and methods, specifically related to heavy civil and infrastructure work.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to manage claims process and negotiate with Owners representatives regarding project issues.
  • Proven skill and ability to lead multiple teams from different functions towards a common goal.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and support for corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify top talent and implement growth opportunities and trainings.
