The Branch Operations Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership and daily operational oversight of the branch's Landscape Construction and Landscape Maintenance operations. This role drives safety, quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction by developing high-performing teams, optimizing operational processes, and ensuring the efficient execution of all field operations. Working closely with the Branch General Manager and Senior Leadership, the Branch Operations Manager fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and exceptional service while supporting the company's long-term growth and profitability.
JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
The Branch Operations Manager duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide leadership, operational oversight, and technical guidance for all Landscape Construction and Landscape Maintenance production teams, ensuring projects and services are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with the company's quality standards.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership and the Branch General Manager to develop and implement operational strategies that improve productivity, profitability, quality, client satisfaction, and employee engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, develop, and hold accountable the branch's Maintenance Production Managers and Construction Field Supervisors through regular coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure Maintenance Production Managers and Construction Field Supervisors are appropriately staffed, trained, and equipped to successfully manage their teams and workload while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee workforce planning and talent management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, succession planning, and, when necessary, employee discipline and termination in accordance with company policies.
  • Foster a culture of strong work ethic, accountability, teamwork, safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout all branch field operations.
  • Work with Maintenance Production Managers and Construction Field Supervisors to plan, advise, and ensure proper maintenance and construction means an methods are being applied.
  • Develop and manage labor plans, production schedules, equipment utilization, and resource allocation to maximize operational efficiency across all service lines.
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to ensure vehicles, trailers, and equipment are properly maintained, efficiently utilized, and available to support field operations.
  • Monitor key operational metrics, including labor productivity, equipment utilization, job costing, gross margin, production quality, client retention, and safety performance to identify trends, drive continuous improvement, and proactively resolve operational challenges.
  • Partner with Construction Project Managers to ensure effective project planning, budget control, change order management, and successful project execution.
  • Partner with Maintenance Account Managers to ensure maintenance contracts and work orders are executed according to scope and budget, client expectations are consistently exceeded, and service issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
  • Partner with other branches to ensure that all people and equipment resources are properly forecasted and optimized and that field/ project teams are efficiently planning, communicating, and executing the work.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees, clients, landscape architects, general contractors, property managers, vendors, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders while serving as a professional ambassador for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety programs, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Performance, management, and/ or oversight of the branches snow removal operations on commercial and residential properties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIRMENTS
Education
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in landscape or construction field preferred but not required with acceptable experience and training to negate degree.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record required.

Experience
  • 4-6 years' experience within the landscape industry as a Production Manager or higher including responsibility for landscape construction, landscape maintenance, or related field operations.
  • Proven success leading multiple teams, departments, or business units with responsibility for employee development, operational performance, and financial results.
  • Expert level understanding of landscape construction means and methods and landscape maintenance practices.
