Job description

The Used Vehicle Manager leads the Used Vehicle Department for the store including management of inventory, pricing, merchandising, and reconditioning process in partnership with the Service team. This role is responsible for selecting, training, coaching, developing and retaining the very best Sales Associates for the store and driving a high-level of performance among the sales team to increase trade appraisals, achieve targeted used vehicle unit sales and profit margins while delighting every Customer along the way.
What are the day-to-day responsibilities?
  • Leading yourself and the sales team in a way that supports AutoNation's Vision and Mission
  • Ensuring effective inventory mix and pricing to market. Move inventory among AutoNation stores as needed to maximize retail opportunities
  • Driving effective merchandising of vehicles including all AutoNation point-of-purchase materials
  • Partnering with Service Department to manage reconditioning of used vehicles
  • Setting a clear vision and goals for the sales team to achieve targeted performance in used vehicle sales and profit
  • Engaging and motivating the team to achieve key goals, performance expectations and AutoNation best practice processes
  • Driving the business through a high-level of involvement in the day-to-day operations
  • Appraising vehicles for trade
  • Managing all three areas of customer traffic: Showroom, E-Commerce, and Phones
  • Managing controllable expense elements for the Used Vehicle Department
  • Analyzing the business to determine shortfalls and developing action plans to improve performance
  • Partnering with the Market Used Vehicle Director to optimize inventory and retail opportunities
