Other key industries served include Textile Rental and Laundry services, baking and snack foods, newspaper delivery, service & utility vehicles, and the ever-growing mobile cuisine food trucks!

Job Title: Cost Engineer Job Description:

Support design engineering product cost management activities through design-to-cost methods in new product development and core design.

Essential Functions and Activities:
  • Initiate, analyze and drive Design-to-Cost trackers for NPD projects.
  • Perform should-cost modelling for fabricated components.
  • Make similar-to estimates for new component designs based on library of existing components.
  • Perform labor-time studies and establish standard times for new installations.
  • Perform Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) activities to generate cost reduction ideas through identification of process and product efficiencies that will reduce overall costs.
  • Establish cost tracking and analysis for costed BOMs outside and inside ERP systems.
  • Support Procurement in analysis and review of supplier cost breakdowns to drive cost reduction opportunities through negotiations with suppliers.
  • Support competitive vehicle benchmarking to provide input for future model development and target costs.
  • Perform analysis on best manufacturing approach for new components based on material, volume etc.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings into should-cost modelling tools
  • Demonstrated systems experience: Excel, JD Edwards (or equivalent), CAD, PDM
  • Practical knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) techniques and strong financial awareness
  • Minimum associate’s degree in engineering or supply chain with background in manufacturing, Bachelors preferred
