What You'll Do as a Tree and Vegetation Specialist: 

As a Tree and Vegetation Specialist, you will support Lewis Tree Service's utility vegetation management operations - including tree trimming, ground support, and herbicide and pesticide treatments - to maintain clearance along utility rights-of-way and ensure reliable service for our customers. 

• Ground-level and aloft tree pruning, felling, and vegetation removal to maintain clearance around power lines and equipment (climbing or aerial lift work under supervision and training) 

• Clear vegetation and debris from job sites - lift logs, drag brush, and similar tasks 

• Operate chainsaws, chippers, blowers, pruners, and other hand and power tools; use handlines to lower limbs and equipment 

• Assist climbers by spotting from the ground, handing up tools, and using hand lines; assist with rigging and felling of trees 

• Mix and apply herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals according to label directions and formulas 

• Operate spray equipment, including truck-mounted sprayers, backpack sprayers, boom sprayers, and handheld applicators 

• Identify target vegetation and select appropriate treatment methods and chemicals 

• Monitor weather conditions, wind speed, and environmental factors to ensure safe and effective application 

• Calibrate spray equipment and adjust nozzles, pressure, and flow rates for proper coverage 

• Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on spray equipment and other tools 

• Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, quantities used, and areas treated in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations 

• Set up traffic control zones and direct traffic when needed 

• Support job site safety by spotting, assisting climbers, and communicating hazards; safeguard colleagues and the public from hazards in and around the work area 

• Communicate with property owners, customers, and the public regarding vegetation management activities 

• Maintain clean, organized trucks and job sites 

• Participate in safety briefings and follow all company safety protocols 

• Drive and operate trucks and specialized equipment (certification required) 

• Assist with vegetation assessments and site surveys as needed 

• Travel frequently for work, including potential overnight stays, to different job sites 

• Ensure compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations 

What You Bring: 

• Basic knowledge of tree species and arboriculture pruning techniques 

• Ability to perform work at heights and use climbing gear or aerial lifts 

• Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide or herbicide applicator license 

• Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship 

• Ability to follow herbicide labels, application guidelines, and safety procedures accurately 

• Attention to detail when mixing, measuring, and applying chemicals 

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team 

• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct on job sites 

• Ability to read, write, and understand English 

• Valid driver's license (CDL preferred) 

• CPR/First Aid certification (provided by Lewis) 

• Herbicide applicator certification (or ability to complete and maintain) 

• Team player attitude, adaptability, and a strong work ethic 

• Ensure compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations 

Physical Demands: 

Ability to: 

• Lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher 

• Push or pull up to 50 lbs. 

• Walk or hike up to one mile on uneven terrain 

• Endure extreme climate variances (e.g., severe cold to high heat and humidity) 

• Hear, speak, see, and communicate effectively 

• Operate two-handed tools and equipment 

• Progress skill in tree ascent and descent 

• Work and maneuver at considerable heights during adverse weather conditions 

Continuously - Standing, Walking, Handling/Grasping, Repetitive Movements. 

Frequently - Lifting/Carrying, Pushing/Pulling, Stooping/Kneeling, Reaching/Tree Ascending-Descending. 

Occasionally - Driving, Climbing Stairs/Ladders.

Never - Tree Ascending/Descending (Groundperson and Pesticide Technician roles only)

Equipment may include: 

• Aerial lift trucks, dump trucks, ATVs, and spray trucks with mounted tank systems 

• Chainsaws, pole saws, handsaws, chippers, blowers, pruners, pole pruners, rakes, winches, and ropes 

• Climbing gear: harness, chaps, spikes 

• Backpack sprayers, handheld sprayers, boom sprayers, calibration equipment, measuring devices, and mixing tanks 

• Personal protective equipment (PPE): respirators, gloves, eye protection, chemical-resistant clothing 

• GPS units, tablets, and communication devices for work order management and record-keeping 

• Fuel, cones, and traffic control signs

Lo Que Haras como Especialista en Arboles y Vegetacion:

Como Especialista en Arboles y Vegetacion, apoyaras las operaciones de gestion de vegetacion para servicios publicos de Lewis Tree Service, incluyendo poda de arboles, apoyo en tierra y tratamientos con herbicidas y pesticidas, para mantener el despeje a lo largo de los derechos de paso de las empresas de servicios publicos y garantizar un servicio confiable para nuestros clientes.

• Poda, tala y remocion de vegetacion tanto a nivel del suelo como en altura para mantener el despeje alrededor de lineas electricas y equipos (trabajos de escalada o con plataforma elevadora bajo supervision y capacitacion).
• Retirar vegetacion y escombros de los lugares de trabajo: levantar troncos, arrastrar ramas y realizar tareas similares.
• Operar motosierras, trituradoras de ramas, sopladoras, podadoras y otras herramientas manuales y electricas; utilizar cuerdas de maniobra para bajar ramas y equipos.
• Asistir a los escaladores desde el suelo, entregando herramientas, utilizando cuerdas de maniobra y colaborando en el aparejo y la tala de arboles.
• Mezclar y aplicar herbicidas, pesticidas y otros productos quimicos de acuerdo con las instrucciones de la etiqueta y las formulas establecidas.
• Operar equipos de pulverizacion, incluidos pulverizadores montados en camiones, mochilas pulverizadoras, pulverizadores de barra y aplicadores manuales.
• Identificar la vegetacion objetivo y seleccionar los metodos de tratamiento y productos quimicos apropiados.
• Monitorear las condiciones climaticas, la velocidad del viento y los factores ambientales para garantizar una aplicacion segura y eficaz.
• Calibrar los equipos de pulverizacion y ajustar las boquillas, la presion y el caudal para lograr una cobertura adecuada.
• Inspeccionar, limpiar y realizar el mantenimiento rutinario de los equipos de pulverizacion y otras herramientas.
• Mantener registros precisos de las aplicaciones quimicas, las cantidades utilizadas y las areas tratadas, de conformidad con las regulaciones federales, estatales y locales.
• Instalar zonas de control de trafico y dirigir el transito cuando sea necesario.
• Apoyar la seguridad en el lugar de trabajo vigilando el area, asistiendo a los escaladores y comunicando los riesgos; proteger a los companeros de trabajo y al publico de los peligros dentro y alrededor del area de trabajo.
• Comunicarse con propietarios de propiedades, clientes y el publico en relacion con las actividades de gestion de vegetacion.
• Mantener los camiones y los lugares de trabajo limpios y organizados.
• Participar en reuniones de seguridad y cumplir con todos los protocolos de seguridad de la empresa.
• Conducir y operar camiones y equipos especializados (se requiere certificacion).
• Ayudar con evaluaciones de vegetacion e inspecciones del sitio cuando sea necesario.
• Viajar con frecuencia por motivos de trabajo, incluyendo posibles estancias nocturnas, a diferentes lugares de trabajo.

• Capacidad para seguir con precision las etiquetas de los herbicidas, las instrucciones de aplicacion y los procedimientos de seguridad
• Atencion al detalle al mezclar, medir y aplicar productos quimicos
• Capacidad para trabajar de forma independiente y como parte de un equipo
• Asistencia confiable, puntualidad y conducta profesional en los lugares de trabajo
• Capacidad para leer, escribir y comprender ingles
• Licencia de conducir valida (se prefiere CDL)
• Certificacion en RCP/Primeros Auxilios (proporcionada por Lewis)
• Certificacion como aplicador de herbicidas (o capacidad para obtenerla y mantenerla)
