Backup & Disaster Recovery Specialist
Location: City of Canton, Georgia
Work Authorization: US Citizen

Security Clearance / Suitability

·        No federal clearance required
·        Must pass City of Canton background check
·        Must comply with City cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery policies
·        Must maintain confidentiality of City data and systems
Role Summary

Manages backup operations, disaster recovery planning, and restore testing for all covered systems.
Mandatory Requirements

·        Backups must occur every 8 hours minimum

·        Must define RTO and RPO
·        Must conduct annual restore testing

·        Must define retention periods
Roles & Responsibilities

·        Manage backup schedules and retention policies
·        Monitor backup success/failure
·        Perform annual restore tests and document results
·        Ensure near‑real‑time incremental backups where possible
·        Support disaster recovery planning and execution
Education Qualification

·        Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field
·        Preferred certifications:
o   Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)

o   Azure Administrator (AZ‑104)

o   CompTIA Server+ or Cloud+

Experience Required

·       8+ years of experience in backup administration, disaster recovery, or business continuity
·        Experience with Veeam, Azure, and on‑premises backup systems
·        Experience defining RTO/RPO, retention policies, and performing restore testing
·        Experience supporting municipal or enterprise environments preferred
