Job description

CTI has been a leading audiovisual provider since we began in 1988, and from the beginning our mission has been simple: to provide a fantastic customer experience.

At CTI, our biggest asset is our people, and we know that sometimes the most awesome employees don’t fit the typical mold. If you are hardworking, friendly, and know the importance of fantastic customer service, you could be a good fit at CTI. We have developed a collaborative and lively working environment, where the best and the brightest show up to work each day ready to have fun and employ their passion for and knowledge of technology in everything they do. This creative atmosphere helps us apply and share our skills with our clients, who seek quality, high-end AV and Conference Solutions.

So, what are we looking for?

We are looking for a Live Event Technician for our Milwaukee branch whose attitude, skills, and work ethic will embody our mission “to provide a fantastic customer experience.” Somebody who is passionate about AV. We take pride in employees known in the industry as customer-focused problem-solvers who can get the job done. This position will primarily serve the Wisconsin Center District/Baird Center.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Work with the production team to ensure that all clients receive equipment and technical support as needed while providing a fantastic customer experience.
  • Provide support for live events, productions, and satellite locations as needed.
  • Set up, operate, and tear down audiovisual equipment in conference centers and event venues, including audio, video, projection, video walls, lighting, staging, and rigging systems.
  • Assist with lighting design, programming, and operation for live events using professional lighting consoles and intelligent fixtures.
  • Create and maintain lighting and rigging plots using Vectorworks or similar design software.
  • Support rigging operations by developing plots, assessing equipment loads, coordinating truss layouts, and serving as an on-site rigging supervisor when required.
  • Work with chain hoists, trussing systems, crank lifts, and other production equipment in accordance with safety standards and venue requirements.
  • Support video production needs including projection, camera systems, video switching, and LED video wall deployments.
  • Assist with audio system setup, operation, troubleshooting, and distribution for live events.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to determine event requirements and provide exceptional onsite support throughout the production process.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with equipment maintenance, organization, repairs, and warehouse operations.
  • Check in rental returns, inspect equipment for damage and proper operation, clean equipment, and return items to inventory.
  • Assist with inventory control and warehouse management/organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Will you fit in?

  • Our employees fearlessly embrace the company culture, and applicants who merely want to punch in their time cards every day are not what we are looking for.
  • You can work independently with minimal guidance but aren’t afraid to ask the right questions when you need help.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and can be the face of our company to our clients

Does experience count?

  • Lighting Experience: At least 2 years of experience programming, operating, and troubleshooting professional lighting systems, intelligent fixtures, lighting consoles, and event lighting designs is highly valued.
  • Rigging Experience: At least 2 years of knowledge of weight load assessments, chain hoists, trussing systems, crank lifts, and event rigging practices is highly desirable. Rigging certification is a plus but is not required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. We take into account your experience, skill level, and what you bring to the table as an individual.
  • Customer Service Experience: A must! Our customers are #1, and we need someone who is committed to providing an exceptional experience before, during, and after every event.
  • Attitude and Aptitude: Are key! We need someone who is eager to learn, adaptable, and ready to tackle new challenges in a fast-paced live event environment.
  • Design Software: Experience with Vectorworks, AutoCAD, or similar event design software is preferred. Training can be provided for candidates with related experience.
  • Audio Experience: A plus. Experience with professional loudspeaker systems, wireless microphones, digital audio networking, and live sound reinforcement is beneficial.
  • Video Experience: A plus. Experience with projection systems, cameras, video switchers, LED video walls, and video processing systems is highly valued.
  • Live Event / Production Experience: Preferred. Candidates with backgrounds in lighting, rigging, concert production, theater production, convention centers, corporate events, or audiovisual event support are encouraged to apply.
  • Equipment Operation: Experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts is a plus. Training and certification opportunities are available for the right candidate.
  • A willingness to learn: Most important of all. We value candidates who bring strong foundational skills in one production discipline and a desire to continue developing their expertise across lighting, rigging, audio, and video technologies.

 What’s in it for you?

At CTI, we know our company’s success is directly correlated to the success of our employees. So it’s fitting that we thrive on and encourage employee growth, both professionally and personally.

Our competitive compensation package includes:
