Job description

We have an immediate need for a Field Application Engineer to join the Testing Verification & Validations team. This position will work closely with customers providing hands-on support for Vector solutions in the customer's environment, and lead Vector activities to ensure customer satisfaction.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Provide strong technical support for PC-based network tools used by product developers and test engineers at OEM's and suppliers.
  • Facilitate success of current products and identify requirements for future solutions.
  • Maintain excellent knowledge of Vector test and validation tool chain features and operation.
  • Work with customers to gather new tool requirements and work with Vector product development teams on behalf of the customer.
  • Proactively initiate customer contact to develop positive, long-term, business relationships.
  • Manage and implement projects to assist customers integrating Vector tools into their processes
  • Identify and propose customer training opportunities including scope of instruction.
  • Contribute information to market strategy by monitoring competitive products and providing feedback from customers.
  • Provide customer training services, including helping to develop courseware and providing instruction in classroom and workshop environments.
  • Conduct demonstrations and customer workshops to promote Vector tools within customer organizations.

Requirements
• Knowledge of OEM/Tier1 automotive ECU development and testing processes.
• 3+ years of experience in the development of vehicle software/hardware systems.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems is desirable.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to communicate technical and other information to customers and team members.
• Experience with C/C#/C++ is required.
• Knowledge of modern DevOps, and CI/CT/CD processes a plus.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Labview/.NET a plus
• Understanding of software design and distributed embedded computer architectures.
• Experience using/implementing automotive networking standards such as CAN, CAN FD, J1939, LIN, MOST, Ethernet, FlexRay, AUTOSAR.
• Previous experience with Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, CAPL, vTESTstudio, VT System) is desirable
• Strong interest in automotive electronics, automotive diagnostics and communication protocols.
• Excellent troubleshooting and facilitation skills to bring issues to resolution.
• Strong communication skills including verbal and listening skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to be effective with different levels and functions both at the customer and internally.
• Ability to work in a team environment with a sense of urgency to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Understanding of test systems and procedures including MIL/SIL/HIL
• Willingness to travel to customer sites outside SE Michigan as necessary (typically < 30%).
• B.S. in EE/SE/CE/CS or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
