Job Description:

Job Summary:
Work effectively and collaboratively with all team members, using digital informational tools to assist the Associate Architect in facilitating an efficient design process; optimizing the coordination of multi-discipline challenges and enhancing successful design. Produce detailed constructible design-drawings that support the delivery of complex design projects with BIM and other tools, typically up to an LOD of 400.
Key/Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
BIM/VDC Design Modeling:
  • Develop expertise in creating digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of a building or facility.
  • Manage collision detection across multiple disciplines
  • Lead modeling efforts for production of walk-through videos.
  • Develop expertise in BIM Technology to support in optimizing designs for client requirements at the appropriate levels of development (LOD).
  • Develop 3D BIM models up to an LOD 400, or as needed, for handover to construction and fabrication teams.
  • Coordinate with BIM-VDC teams to facilitate the best flow of information and the setting up of models to support delivery.
  • Develop expertise with 4D and 5D functionality to analyze different construction sequences and techniques to optimize cost and schedule.
  • Prepare BIM models for use in other software, such as programs for fluid flow analysis or energy modeling.
  • Coordinate integration with a range of software (Autodesk, Bentley, SketchUp etc.) to facilitate design understanding.
BIM/VDC Set Up and Operations:
  • Understands and interprets BIM Execution Plan for project team.
  • Leads the drawing set up for project team.
  • Ensures other drafters on project team have necessary set up and processes on hand.
  • Contributes to the Design Studio's development of Revit and all the VDC processes.
  • Seeks to initiate the most advanced use of BIM and VDC tools.
BIM/VDC Construction Modeling:
  • Initial System Modeling:
  • Develop expertise in generating 3D model of piping, plumbing and/or ductwork systems in compliance with building codes, construction standards, contract documents, and instructions from the project leadership.
  • Route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems.
  • Show all components and systems.
  • Coordination:
  • Lead the efforts to overlay piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems with other trades.
  • Manage the re-route of piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork as required.
  • Produce sign-off record drawings.
  • Work with the Model management of the projects assigned.
Misc.:
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization.
What we're looking for in you
  • 8+ Years Drafting/Design in the Construction industry (or experience gained through school projects)
  • 8+ Years Knowledge of construction methods and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the discipline
  • 8+ Years Experience drafting a variety of HVAC, Duct, Pipe or Plumping systems
  • Proficient understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or Navisworks
