Director, VBC Payer Operations & Implementation
Position Highlights:

The Director of VBC Payer Operations & Implementation is the architect behind scalable, high-performing contracts. This leader translates complex payer contracts into clear, executable initiatives that deliver results in partial-risk environments. Shaping and owning outcomes, the Director orchestrates clinical, operational, analytic, and payer stakeholders to design workflows, launch programs, and continuously sharpen performance. With a bias for action and accountability, this role builds the execution engine-using disciplined operating cadence, data-driven optimization, and relentless improvement-and ensures results follow.


Responsibilities:

Implement and Run Partial Risk Plans

  • Own implementation and ongoing execution of partial risk contracts
  • Translate contract requirements into specific, operational initiatives
  • Partner with operations to build and deploy BPAs and workflow changes embedded in physician practice
  • Lead a weekly execution workgroup to drive timelines, adoption, and issue resolution

Manage Performance

  • Partner with Analytics/IT to build and use dashboards that track initiative execution and results
  • Monitor performance and actively course-correct when targets are missed
  • Work directly with payers to validate and improve reporting
  • Present implementation status and results to the President and steering committee
  • Own and maintain action tracker and facilitate payer JOCs as needed

Drive Improvement & Additional Initiatives

  • Identify and implement performance improvement opportunities
  • Support ad hoc payer, strategic, and enterprise initiatives as they arise, including analysis, partnership evaluation, and special projects

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, payer contracting, value-based care, or related programs
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Finance, Public Health, Analytics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of Medicare Advantage, ACO REACH, and MSSP programs
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the execution of risk-based or value-based contracts
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with teams such as utilization management and care management
  • Strong analytical and execution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance strategic objectives and day-to-day operations

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $125K-$188K, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
