Shift Hours:

The Vault Teller’s responsibilities include the service and activities of the full teller line to ensure an exceptional service standard while minimizing fraud and losses. Additional responsibilities include achieving a high level of production for themselves and the team, while maintaining high team morale. They will also listen to member’s needs, complete their financial transactions, and offer products and services to enhance their financial lives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities                                                                            

  • Consistently meet all Shell FCU Service Commitments; Shell FCU Employee Creed and Shell FCU Service Distinctions.
  • Accountable to maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable rules and regulations required within the scope of duties, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Perform job duties and responsibilities in compliance to Shell FCU policies, procedures, philosophy, and standards of performance.
  • Effectively communicate policy and procedure updates to the team.
  • Required to complete annual training sessions as instructed or scheduled.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and personal service to all members.
  • Create and provide schedule for the teller team to ensure optimal staff effectiveness.
  • Must be able to work the rotating opening, closing and Saturday schedule, as needed.
  • Receives and processes member financial transactions, including but not limited to:
  • Deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments; negotiate checks, process Cash Advances and Western Union transactions, process coin tickets.
  • Work within assigned Vault Teller limits.
  • Ensures monthly compliance audits are taken care of.
  • Prepare cash/coin shipments and orders for the branch.
  • Prepare CTR & SAR worksheets as required.
  • Work to understand Shell FCU practices and procedures to help identify and prevent fraud.
  • Handle cash and balance cash drawer daily.
    • Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions immediately for self and branch team members.
  • Assist with signing off on checks and giving teller overrides.
  • Assist in training new staff or the further development of team members.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with the teller team as necessary.
  • Supervise teller cash limits, ATM limits, and vault limits.
  • Assist members with their service needs related to, including but not limited to:
    • Change of Address, issue/maintenance ATM & debit cards, check orders, safe deposit box.
  • Cross-sell Credit Union products and services based upon member needs.
  • Knowledgeable about all log-related procedures to ensure team understanding and compliance, , including but not limited to:
    • Dual control, buy/sells from the vault, night drop, mail log.
  • Must take the initiative to assist with problem solving, troubleshooting and to provide support in all areas of the branch, as needed.
  • Ensure the teller line operates efficiently and effectively to deliver exceptional member service.
  • Conduct teller line observations and provide personalized feedback to foster professional development while ensuring exceptional member service is being delivered.
  • Meet/exceed personal and branch goals.
  • Lead the team with daily responsibilities as needed, included but not limited to:
    • Following opening and closing procedures.
    • Daily balancing of the coin machine, vault, ATM, and card machine; closing SDB vault.
    • Wiling to assist the team at other branch locations, if needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience:

Two years of direct Credit Union experience as a Teller or five years of related cash handling practice acquired through banking or retail experience is preferred.

Education / Training:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Accuracy with numbers and attention to detail are needed.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend and stand. May at times be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 55 pounds.
