Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with surgeons and the multidisciplinary care team to provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preoperative evaluations, postoperative management, patient education, discharge planning, and ensuring continuity of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and evaluations.
- Provide postoperative care and monitor patient recovery.
- Collaborate closely with cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
- Coordinate discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions of care.
- Monitor patient progress, identify complications, and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Document patient encounters accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in rotating clinical coverage and on-call responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
QualificationsNurse Practitioner
- Current Missouri Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN/NP) license.
- Current Missouri Registered Nurse license or an active Compact State RN license (must be held in the nurse's state of residence).
OR
Physician Assistant
- Current Missouri Physician Assistant (PA) license.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Preferred Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in cardiothoracic, vascular surgery, surgery, critical care, or acute care preferred.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with EMR systems.
