The Distribution Center (DC) Lead is responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely process of multiple small departments along side another lead.
Location: Distribution Center, 3755 W Sunset Road, Suite A, Las Vegas, NV 89118

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensures new receipts in the Value Added Services (VAS) area are processed as per DC procedures including security tagging, ticketing and hanging merchandise as well as processing damaged merchandise
  • Coordinates workload assigned to VAS lanes to ensure a consistent flow of cartons to DC Associates
  • Coordinates needed ticket printing with Ticketing Coordinator
  • Ensure DC Associates have supplies needed and reports any shortages to Supervisor/Operations Manager timely
  • Ensures merchandise cartons packed in WMS are shipped per DC procedures
  • Reports training/productivity issues immediately to Supervisor
  • Report any DC Associate personnel issues to Supervisor or Operations Manager promptly
  • Assigns priority orders as directed by the Supervisor or Operations Manager and forwards backstock merchandise priorities to Reserve Stock Leads
  • Ensures item count discrepancies are properly verified and distribution/detail counts are updated in WMS as reported
  • Ensures Detail Counts are properly closed in WMS when complete
  • Ensures daily VAS processing is completed/orders closed in accordance with daily goals keeping payroll guidelines in mind
  • Follows through on priority orders assigned to ensure expected ship dates are met
  • Applies and photographs when applicable, vendor chargebacks as per the WHSmith Vendor compliance guidelines and DC procedures
  • Coordinates used pallet pickups as needed
  • Ensures DC packing staff is assigned appropriately to WIP and communicates staffing needs to Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Reports training/productivity issues immediately to Supervisor
  • Operates and uses company equipment in a safe manner at all times in accordance with DC policies and procedures Reports all accidents and DC equipment issues to DC management immediately
  • Reports defective equipment immediately to supervisor including RF scanners, printers, computer equipment, order pickers and forklifts
  • Ensures staff is adhering to WHSmith's DC Safety program at all times, including practicing safe lifting practices
  • Maintains confidentiality of company sources and information
  • Assists Shipping Supervisor and Inbound Lead as Assigned
  • Assists in DC loss prevention by enforcing all applicable security procedures; ie monitoring of entrance/exit and keeping dock doors secured
  • To conduct him/herself in the spirit of the WHSmith mission, vision, core values and organizational health
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in a fast paced distribution center or warehouse with some supervisory responsibility
  • Previous certification or training on various warehouse equipment including but not limited to pallet jacks, lift trucks and stock pickers
  • Previous experience with hand held terminals (HHT's)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
  • Ability to multi task and problem solve
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Check and Drug Testing required
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, pushing, or pulling
  • Limited travel or overnight
  • Normal or corrected vision and hearing
  • Can distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns, or materials
  • Fluency in English is required for training, customer interactions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
