Job description

Product Designer (Fidelity Labs - Fidelity Private Shares)
The Role
We are seeking a Principal Product Designer to drive customer and business outcomes during a critical and exciting period of growth for the team. In this role, you will thrive in ambiguous problem spaces, transforming complex financial concepts into straightforward, comfortable experiences for founders, their employees, legal counsel and other key users. You will own end-to-end success, focusing on measurable impact rather than just beautiful artifacts. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customer success partners to define the path forward where one doesn't yet exist.
Your primary responsibilities:
  • Drive Insights and Strategy
    • Leverage customer insights to form a strong point of view on product direction and design opportunities.
    • Lead research and discovery initiatives to fill knowledge gaps and inform decision-making when data is scarce.
    • Champion customer centricity across the organization, transforming cross-functional partners into advocates for the user.
  • Lead and Influence Outcomes
    • Align design solutions with core business needs, KPIs, and strategic outcomes to ensure measurable impact.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers to iteratively shape product strategy, balancing innovation with time and scope constraints.
    • Partner with engineering to deliver feasible implementation specs, review work in progress, and iterate based on technical feedback.
    • Continuously refine our design processes and tooling within the product and engineering pipelines to improve efficiency and broaden impact.
  • Elevate Design Craft
    • Serve as the design lead on medium-to-large projects, designing concepts from early sketches to polished visual mock ups.
    • Deliver final design mocks and detailed specifications to development teams to ensure high-quality execution.
    • Translate design solutions into clear product requirements that bridge the gap between user needs and technical implementation.
    • Facilitate key design sessions to incorporate feedback, generate alignment, and secure buy-in from leadership.

The Expertise and Skills you Bring
  • 6+ years of product design experience in a fast-moving environment, preferably within FinTech, HRTech, or HealthTech.
  • Proven SaaS experience, demonstrating the ability to support a live in-market product with iterative updates while simultaneously driving longer-term strategic initiatives.
  • Versatility across the design lifecycle, with the ability to move fluidly from rough sketches and concepts to complex prototypes and detailed UI handoffs.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools, specifically Figma and Miro, with a strong command of visual and verbal communication.
  • A strategic mindset with a bias for action, capable of leading exploratory meetings, facilitating idea generation, and driving alignment.
  • Deep familiarity with user research techniques and feedback loops to ensure solutions are grounded in real user needs.
  • A polished, compelling portfolio showcasing your ability to design complex workflows; please provide a link to your portfolio with
    your application.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent practical experience.
