As the Spay/Neuter Supervisor, you will play a key role in shaping the future of animal care by leading the operations of our HQHVSN Oakland and Dublin clinics.You'llmanage a dedicated team, oversee client and patient care, and ensure our clinics run smoothly, helping provide accessible, affordable spay/neuter services. The starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $71,000to $75,000.

Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Maintain and improve the standards of client and patient care.
  • Develop and implement efficiency measures to streamline daily operations.
  • Ensures that operation of both spay/neuterclinicsarecompliant with statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as East Bay SPCA's mission,valuesand policies.
  • Demonstrates efficient andappropriate interactionwith clients, promoting good public relations.
  • Regularly performs patient care.
  • In the absence of technical team members, coordinate, delegate, or perform tasks.

  • Meets regularly withtheCommunity MedicineManagerand other managers and supervisors in the organization to ensure the goals for thespay/neuter facilitiesare met and to support East Bay SPCA's overallobjectives.
  • Actively encourages volunteer participation and collaborates with the VolunteerServicesManager to create rewarding and beneficial opportunities.
  • Communicate with internal and external teams daily to ensureoptimumappointment fill rates.
  • Leads collaborations forSpay/Neuter team with Philanthropy/Marketing departments andparticipatesin events for fundraising, community outreach, andveterinary education.
  • Collaborate with department Managers to meet shared goalsandutilizeclinic space.

Staff/Client Management

  • Adjustwork schedules and assignmentswhen neededto ensure adequate staff levelsto achieve animal and client care goals and a compliant workplace.
  • Assistinteam recruitment, on-boarding, training, and performance management, includingtimelyperformance evaluations, coaching,feedbackand discipline.
  • Communicates pertinent information to staff,volunteersand management ina timelyand effective mannerincluding, butnot limited to team meetings.
  • Implement and oversee all training programs related to the Spay/Neuter Clinics, including employee development, safety, OSHA, and biomedical, as well as all related documentation.
  • Collaborates proactively with Volunteer Services to provide training and integration of volunteers at the clinics.
  • Fosters teamwork,creativityand innovation to meet East Bay SPCA goals.
  • Handles client concerns, as needed, includingtimelyandappropriate responseto escalated situations
  • Create, adjust,monitorand update systems, procedures and protocols withveterinarians',Community MedicineManager, andVP of Medical Servicesinput as necessary toassurepatient care, client needs, and efficiency.

Administrative

  • Maintains andmonitor PMS.
  • Monitors the control andaccuratereporting of all drugs and medical supplies used as required by the DEA.
  • Receives and tracks inventory and order supplies tomaintaincost-efficient inventory for operations, ensuring theorganizationreceives competitive pricing.Maintainappropriate levelsof "quantity on hand","reorder level",and "reorder quantity" in thePMS.
  • Documents andreportsincidents and accidents in the clinicsin a proper andtimelymanner.
  • Handlesall repair, improvements, and upkeep of the equipment within theclinics.
  • Maintains a facility that follows safety guidelines for OSHA.
  • Maintainsaccuratefinancial records for theclinicsand ensures invoices to providers are paidin a timely manner.
  • Responsible for creating training manuals and Standard Operating Procedures for thespay/neuter clinics, as needed.
  • Oversee spay/neuter clinic partner lease agreements.

Qualifications

  • At least two years in a management or supervisory positionwithina veterinary clinic or an animal welfare setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients,teamand volunteers.
  • Proficientin Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity withEzyvetsoftware a plus.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of applicable veterinary technical skills and practice;active California RVT license preferred.
  • Fear Free Certified or ability tobecome sowithin90 daysof hire.
  • Holda VeterinaryAssistant ControlledSubstance Permitor ability to obtain onewithin90 daysof hire.
  • Ability to work independently or effectively with other employees toaccomplishdaily tasks as well asaccomplishingstrategic plans.
  • Associate's degree in veterinary technology or aBachelor'sdegree preferable.
  • Proven experience with departmentbudgeting,inventory management.
  • Ability to travel between facilities as needed; must have valid CA driver's licenseand personal vehicle.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed ina veterinary clinic settingwith exposure to seasonal outdoor conditions.
  • Act as Manager on Duty during holidays as needed.
  • Animal contact and related injuries, including bites and scratches, may occur.
  • Must becompetenthandling dogs and catsdaily.Will handle sick, injured, or deceasedanimals.
  • Noise exposure varies and often includes uncontrolled barking and other animal vocalizations.
  • Animal waste contact,smellsand visual exposure are prevalent.
  • Frequent exposure to and/or handling of industrial cleaning supplies.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a frequent basis and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.Must be able to push and/or pull over 50 pounds occasionally.
