Job Title: Arena Usher/Ticket Taker
Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, MI
Job Type: Part-Time / Event-Based $18/hr
Start Date: May 15 - Limited Spots Available per event. Jobs are first come, first serve through our scheduling app. Not guaranteed a spot at each event.
Dates with more availability: 5/15, 7/ 17 and 8/1
Job Summary: We are looking for energetic, friendly, and reliable individuals to join our Guest Services team as Arena Ushers. As an usher, you will be the face of our arena, responsible for guiding guests to their seats, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment, and being a proactive presence during events. This is a fast-paced, people centered role that requires strong communication skills, professionalism, and physical stamina.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet patrons warmly and assist them in finding their assigned seats.
• Walk up and down stairs across various sections and rows throughout events.
• Monitor crowd activity to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment.
• Encourage appropriate behavior and address any disruptions calmly and professionally.
• Ensure patrons are following arena policies (e.g., phone use, camera policies, etc.).
• Serve as a friendly and approachable point of contact for all guest inquiries and concerns.
• Maintain awareness of your surroundings and help enforce safety and security procedures.
• Stand for extended periods of time, up to 4 hours or more per event.
• Communicate clearly and courteously with guests and team members, regardless of personal mood or event intensity.
• Assist patrons scanning their tickets upon arrival. Requirements:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and composed in high-energy environments.
• Physically able to walk, climb stairs, and stand for long durations.
• Customer service or guest relations experience preferred.
