Job description

Van Andel Institute (VAI), a world-class biomedical research institute, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is dedicated to improving human health. We are pioneers in the fight against cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators.
The laboratory of Dr. Qiang Zhu is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to be a key part of our research team. Our research focuses on exploring the molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurodegeneration in motor neuron diseases (e.g. ALS) and dementia (e.g. frontotemporal dementia) and more importantly, developing novel therapies for clinical application to treat these devastating diseases. Work in the laboratory is conducted across multiple levels, including human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) culture, rodent models and human nervous system samples. QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in life sciences, with a focus on neuroscience, cell biology and molecular biology, or related biomedical fields
  • Prior lab experience in molecular, cellular, or animal-based experiments is a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative to handle responsibility and carry out tasks in a reliable, efficient, and high-quality manner
  • A motivated team player who can collaborate effectively with other lab members
  • Genuine interest and commitment to scientific research
