Job description

This position is under the direction of the facility General Manager. The Plant Manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls the daily operations, continuous improvement efforts and the optimization of precision machining processes of the facility.


Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for the performance of various functions within operations such as Manufacturing, Maintenance, Shipping/Receiving, Production Control, Operational Cost Accounting, and Engineering.

Supports multiple value streams in achieving operational excellence, ensuring production output meets or exceeds customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery.

Monitors and interprets key business indicators and improves production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.

Implements cost effective systems for operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.

Stays current with industry trends and drives the implementation of best practices throughout the facility.

Develops and sustains systems and processes that track and optimize quality standards, on-time delivery, and financial performance through metrics and performance targets.

Develops and implements plans and budgets regarding both short and long-term labor, equipment, and facilities requirements. Allocates resources effectively and fully utilizes assets to produce optimal results.

Implements strategies in alignment with Corporate Strategic initiatives and provides a sense of direction and focus. Initiates corrective actions to steer the team on the right course, as necessary.

Collaborates with the Quality Manager and cross-functional teams to review and monitor quality improvements, process enhancements, and new product launches.

Directs, monitors, and evaluates the performance of direct reports while ensuring the Value Stream Managers effectively manage and appraise their teams.

Participates and directs all personnel to the regulatory compliance of 21 CFR Part 820 and ISO 13485 standards.

Consistently applies Corporate and site-specific employment policies, as they relate to manufacturing personnel.

Collaborates in managing facility engineering efforts to support customer objectives related to design, new product development, and continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data, and analysis.

Participates in the quoting process for potential new facility business.

Ensures the organization meets Continuous Improvement objectives through the development and prioritization of Area Improvement Team (AIT) projects.

Analyzes multiple value streams with value stream maps and identifies opportunities to eliminate non-value-added steps in the process.

Recommends budgets to General Manager, including staff use, technology, facility and equipment requirements or improvements.

Provides technical troubleshooting/problem solving and training as needed.

Collaborate in the selection of internal and external candidates for all positions and in the continued development of qualified personnel.

Collaborates in the improvement or implementation of Information Technology systems that improve the operations processes.

Develops a trusting and collaborative work environment.

Commits to plant safety initiatives and continuous improvement.

Addresses employee issues or grievances in a thorough and fair manner.

Regularly reports operational metrics, performance updates, and planned activities to the General Manager.

The Plant Manager must be a role model in the motivation, values and attitude towards Autocam Medical's organizational expectations, principles, policies, and culture.
