What This Role Will Do

As a Senior Associate specializing in Gift & Estate Valuation, you will participate in business valuation engagements to value operating companies, family limited partnerships, and privately held promissory notes. You will manage financial models, conduct complex analyses, and write clear, supportable valuation reports that meet IRS requirements.

You will be trained on and use best practice valuation methodologies and ensure high-quality client deliverables. This role requires a background in business valuation and/or financial modeling with excellent written communication skills. Key Responsibilities
  • Execute business valuation engagements related to gift and estate tax transactions under the supervision of a manager or director.
  • Prepare valuations of closely held businesses, family limited partnerships, promissory notes, and other privately held investments.
  • Analyze and apply appropriate discounts for lack of control and lack of marketability using best practice methodologies.
  • Review and refine valuation analyses to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
  • Prepare and document valuation conclusions in a detailed valuation report and supporting documentation for gift and estate tax filings.
  • Research industry, economic, and company-specific factors affecting valuation conclusions.
  • Assist with responses to questions or requests from clients, auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and train junior associates, helping develop their technical, analytical, and report-writing skills.
What Makes You Successful in This Role
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business; MBA preferred.
  • Certifications such as CFA or ASA preferred but not required.
  • Two to five years of experience in business valuation, commercial lending, investment banking, or a related field.
